Idea of members of community committing to a monthly donation

With a daily budget of $3.50, approximately $98 per month would be used. Sometimes actual daily costs are a few cents over, or even nowhere near the daily budget (lately we have been getting between $1.00 to $1.50 in usage even though the daily budget is set to $3.50).

Calculations:

01 person would pay 0$98.00 per month to fulfill a monthly budget of $98

02 persons would pay $49.00 per month to fulfill a monthly budget of $98

03 persons would pay $32.67 per month to fulfill a monthly budget of $98

04 persons would pay $24.50 per month to fulfill a monthly budget of $98

05 persons would pay $19.60 per month to fulfill a monthly budget of $98

06 persons would pay $16.33 per month to fulfill a monthly budget of $98

07 persons would pay $14.00 per month to fulfill a monthly budget of $98

08 persons would pay $12.25 per month to fulfill a monthly budget of $98

09 persons would pay $10.89 per month to fulfill a monthly budget of $98

10 persons would pay $09.80 per month to fulfill a monthly budget of $98

11 persons would pay $08.91 per month to fulfill a monthly budget of $98

12 persons would pay $08.17 per month to fulfill a monthly budget of $98

50 persons would pay $01.96 per month to fulfill a monthly budget of $98

Decided to make a poll for this, because it's a legitimate question and I think we should stop speculating and start acting. Post your votes.

For clarifications, the only downside to not paying anything is less population. And if you decide you want to partake in this type of systematic payment, you can stop at any time you want. It's your decision and yours only.

That poll is messed up... why multiple choices?

I also don't agree with this 'monthly commitment' thing, but I do think that you can encourage people to donate even very small amounts of money if they can. Even 2$ can contribute significantly to this advertising campaign. What you are willing to pay shouldn't matter with what others are willing to... The whole poll is weird.

It is cheaper to run advertisements continuously (as I have found from AdWords) and I also have a hunch that after a certain point (in decreasing the daily budget) money begins to waste for literally nothing (no results/clicks/whatever).

I put two different styles of options there because some people may not really care about an exact amount, and it's easier to read.

$2 can have it going for about a day. I don't quite understand what you mean about this monthly commitment thing you mentioned, I specifically said you can decide not to pay if you don't want to (it is a donation lol). The whole reason I wanted to make this poll is so that we can have an actual campaign, a real one - and to see the community's opinion on how much they would donate on a monthly basis. I've spoken to a few people and they said they don't want to donate because nobody else is. Hopefully this poll will get a bunch of people to agree all at the same time, and then we can actually have active donations.

What I had in mind is that between a specific time, everyone sends in their donation, say for instance, the 10th through the 15th of every month (or whatever). This will give some type of organization to this program rather than "Okay, we need some money. Send in a donation someone!" which nobody will do.

L.C., I noticed we've been getting less clicks too, but it really could be a good thing. My speculation is that many spiders/bots record ads or websites they've already visited, and then don't click on it the next time they see it. This is actually saving us money from spider/bot clicks.

So far, with the 8 members that have voted (and I've redacted double votes) we have a monthly donation of between $42 and $47.

You people don't understand what multiple choice means do you?

Multiple choice means that people can select more than 1 choice, NOT that the poll has multiple choices.... I see this way to fucking often... you people can't be that dense

For clarity's sake, I'd like to point out that the poll initially had checkboxes (multiple choices) meaning (as root said) you could select everything. Which is why I said the poll was weird... But it's still weird because the choice implies the number of people who are required to vote that option, which doesn't make sense... Have people vote on what they want to pay, then add it up and see if it fits the budget blum.gif

Yeah, I disabled multiple choice and removed multiple-votes from those that did it and used their highest choice for my calculations.

Update: With 10 people that have voted, and the double/multiple votes ignored, I've concluded that we can get a total of between $63.34 and $64.84 a month.

When we reach 15 votes, I'm going to average it out and make another poll with a more direct and difinitive answer that we can use (this was just for finding out the average amount of money a player is willing to contribute per month).

The anon poll seems more... accurate to me, no need to make another blum.gif

The answers from your/his/rootbear's poll isn't something I was looking for.

wtf?

You can't expect everyone to have the money to put into such a project, nor can you expect every player to have a paypal account or other payment-over-the-internet method, nor does everyone necessarily agree with the fact that these advertisements are having any impact whatsoever on the game. I'd rather be honest and vote 0, than vote something I could never fulfill.

I'm with Hak on this one. Unless theres some proof that ads are following through, I'd be reluctant on paying for them.
