Dav Posted January 23, 2010 Report Posted January 23, 2010 I appear to be a bot rusty, I cannot remember which bot I need. Many of you may remember that in the old DS (before flagging) there was a turf map within which were two bots protecting the spawns by killing anyone that attempted to enter. As they were a nice touch and quite a lot of fun I want to purt these back in the zone. Only problem is I cannot remember which Bot/plugin was used to do it. Does anyone know where I can get thus bot again? Quote

Dav Posted January 23, 2010 Author Report Posted January 23, 2010 no it sat at a fixed point, was also impossible to kill. Quote
Samapico Posted January 23, 2010 Report Posted January 23, 2010 The Complex had a remote-controlled turret bot thing, but that's not what you're seeking... I don't know what/where that plugin would be Quote
Dr Brain Posted January 23, 2010 Report Posted January 23, 2010 It's easy to do with asss, if you're using that. I could even modify the module for you, if you don't have a programmer. Quote
Dav Posted January 23, 2010 Author Report Posted January 23, 2010 trouble is we are on subgame. Cre talked about wanting to go to ASSS at some point but its not looking possible in the near future. Basically the bot just sits at its defined location, and when an enamy ship comes within a set range it aims, opens fire and kills them. Quote
Hakaku Posted January 23, 2010 Report Posted January 23, 2010 Dav, you're referring to Mervbot. By default it has the ability to act either as a turret that follows a player or you can have it remain in one spot, shooting at enemy players that aproach, but impossible to kill as you described. Quote
L.C. Posted January 23, 2010 Report Posted January 23, 2010 (edited) With MERVBot you can set the range. To do this, just set the desired resolution in mervbot.ini. When you have the bot stationed where you want it to be, it will only shoot at enemy players that are within its resolution. 1. Possible to station a MERVBot spawn at specific coordinate? Yes - use *warpto2. Possible to make that MERVBot spawn shoot at enemy players? Yes - does this by default3. Possible to set range at which it would begin shooting enemy players? Yes - set resolution in mervbot.ini4. Would the MERVBot spawn open fire when enemy players are within range of its stationary position? Yes - 1 through 3 combined into one question Hakaku, I do not see where this is impossible. EDIT: Might be important to note that this "range" is not circular. Resolutions are square. To determine the "radius" for the x-axis, take the number you set for this axis divided by 2 and that is how far from the ship/bot to the left or right in pixels the bot can see. If you want the bot to see 32 tiles to its right:* Each tile is 16 pixels * 32 tiles * 2 because the ship is in the center of the screen = 1024 for x-axis dimension for resolution If you want it to see with a radius of 32 tiles, then you would use 1024x1024. Though because it is square and not circular, the radius will only be 32 tiles vertically and horizontally. The corners will be slightly larger than a radius of 32-tiles. »Lynx Posted January 23, 2010 Report Posted January 23, 2010 AFAIK, this functionality is inclusive of Merv. I think you just spawn the bot into a ship, and then set the bots location. There might be a module around that will spawn it there or have settings, I forget. Ehrm, something is telling me you might need to false an attach, too. It's been so long since I've used Merv so I can't really remember. Quote
Hakaku Posted January 23, 2010 Report Posted January 23, 2010 Hakaku, I do not see where this is impossible.Wait, what? I've never seen anyone kill a turreting Mervbot before. Dav, you're referring to Mervbot. By default it has the ability to act either as a turret that follows a player or you can have it remain in one spot, shooting at enemy players that aproach, but impossible to kill as you described. CRe Posted January 23, 2010 Report Posted January 23, 2010 Dav meant killing players not killing the bot. Quote
Dav Posted January 23, 2010 Author Report Posted January 23, 2010 That would be why I couldnt find it, COmpletly forgot it was built in! Thanks a lot eveyone Quote
Hakaku Posted January 23, 2010 Report Posted January 23, 2010 Dav meant killing players not killing the bot.For clarification's purpose. no [the bot] sat at a fixed point, [and it, the bot,] was also impossible to kill.(...) [MervBot is able to shoot] at enemy players that aproach, but [it, MervBot, is] impossible to kill as you [previously] described. Quote
Samapico Posted January 23, 2010 Report Posted January 23, 2010 Right... I thought the aim and fire built-in feature only worked with !aim ... but you're right, it can shoot automatically Quote
