Hi!

I am here concerning the lag I get in many SSC Zones at certain times of the day.

The lag, which affects me in Extreme Games, the zone I play most, is cause by hopone in New York, as seen by the Trace below:

Tracing Zone: SSCU Extreme Games IP Address: 66.235.184.102

Ignore all of the %loss in there, its the ping thats the problem. This trace was done about 5 minutes ago, here are the results of a trace I did about an hour ago when HopOne lag was not affecting me:

Hopone is not giving me any problems at all here!

The lag normally goes away around 4:30pm GMT and Started at around 2:40pm GMT.

This lag is affecting many people and I am searching for a way to resolve it. Both HopOne and Easynet are blaming each other for the lag and for me, changing ISP is not an option. I love in the United Kingdom and use Sky Broadband, if that is of any assistance to my helpers 8)

PING Current:780 ms Average:790 ms Low:760 ms High:950 ms S2C: 0.5% C2S: 8.7%

C:780 A:790 H:950 PL:8.9 [s2C 0.4 C2S 8.9] WPL:0.0 SpC:95.0 [s2C 95.0 C2S 0.0] SpT:73.2 [s2C 73.2 C2S 2.0] 0.00s-old

Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Johnson.

The fact that you are getting from the UK to the the US server in basically 8 hops is amazing.

Yeah I know. I live in Alabama and it takes me 21 hops. Anyway, I would contact your ISP or that server that causes the problem and ask them what's up. Maybe consider changing ISPs if that is possible if it continues. Have you tried connecting on another connection at a friends house or something?

Hrmm, I'm in the UK and make it in six hops (after my router, and the Uni switchboard). Maybe it's because I'm connecting from an education establishment that uses SuperJANET. I'd say it's probably Sky that's causing you trouble - Sky used to give me terribad service, I disconnected pretty much two weeks after signing up. Virgin Media currently is probably my favorite ISP for the UK provided you can get fiber coverage in your area. Check your router security settings, and DHCP. Make sure you've not got the standard configuration, if you do somebody could be leeching. Edited by Lynx

I cannot change ISP and it does seem that Sky is the only ISP in the UK which goes through this hop :/.

To others ^ I have contacted my ISP AND HOPONE however they are no help and just end up blaming each other for the problem...

Is there no possible way of blocking a hop in order to stop this lag?

ALSO Heres a little pic that shows how SHIT Sky is an an ISP (I have 8mb Broadband) http://www.speedtest.net/result/697726994.png

Wow. In the U.S. with Charter Communications, they say you should always have at least 70% of what is advertised, if not then they come out and make it so it is. I get well over 10mbps (maybe it went back down to 5), but I get what is in my sig on my laptop with wifi. my desktop gets in the 40s a lot.

Anyway, call your ISP and ask them to come make sure your speed is where it should be. It could be a signal problem. I'm not sure how the customer service works in the uk, but here if they don't fix the problems, just call and be hella mad and the problem is gone ASAP
