Testtube Posted January 20, 2010 Report Posted January 20, 2010 The fact that you are getting from the UK to the the US server in basically 8 hops is amazing. Quote
BDwinsAlt Posted January 22, 2010 Report Posted January 22, 2010 The fact that you are getting from the UK to the the US server in basically 8 hops is amazing.Yeah I know. I live in Alabama and it takes me 21 hops. Anyway, I would contact your ISP or that server that causes the problem and ask them what's up. Maybe consider changing ISPs if that is possible if it continues. Have you tried connecting on another connection at a friends house or something? Quote
»Lynx Posted January 22, 2010 Report Posted January 22, 2010 (edited) Hrmm, I'm in the UK and make it in six hops (after my router, and the Uni switchboard). Maybe it's because I'm connecting from an education establishment that uses SuperJANET. I'd say it's probably Sky that's causing you trouble - Sky used to give me terribad service, I disconnected pretty much two weeks after signing up. Virgin Media currently is probably my favorite ISP for the UK provided you can get fiber coverage in your area. Check your router security settings, and DHCP. Make sure you've not got the standard configuration, if you do somebody could be leeching. Edited January 22, 2010 by Lynx Quote

To others ^ I have contacted my ISP AND HOPONE however they are no help and just end up blaming each other for the problem...Is there no possible way of blocking a hop in order to stop this lag? ALSO Heres a little pic that shows how SHIT Sky is an an ISP (I have 8mb Broadband) http://www.speedtest.net/result/697726994.png Edited January 28, 2010 by Johnson Quote
BDwinsAlt Posted January 28, 2010 Report Posted January 28, 2010 Wow. In the U.S. with Charter Communications, they say you should always have at least 70% of what is advertised, if not then they come out and make it so it is. I get well over 10mbps (maybe it went back down to 5), but I get what is in my sig on my laptop with wifi. my desktop gets in the 40s a lot. Anyway, call your ISP and ask them to come make sure your speed is where it should be. It could be a signal problem. I'm not sure how the customer service works in the uk, but here if they don't fix the problems, just call and be hella mad and the problem is gone ASAP Quote
»Lynx Posted January 28, 2010 Report Posted January 28, 2010 You're also approx. 100 miles from your exchange. Call Sky out and say that your ping is completely unacceptable etcetera Quote
Paky Dude Posted August 19, 2010 Report Posted August 19, 2010 Did you ever get this problem resolved? Seems like I'm having the same problem and my download is 15-20 MBps and upload is 5-15 MBps.... Quote
