Slicer Posted January 15, 2010 Report Posted January 15, 2010 Hello guys, girls and forum trolls (polix (just kidding))Thought I'd stop by and see how things from the SS world are going. Its been awhile since I've gone back to my roots, SS considering how much it changed my views on life etc.Sound silly eh? A 2d game changing a kids life? Well I was 11-12 when I first played, knew little about the computing world other than bright lights and flashy explosions intrigued me. However after meeting friends I still speak to online via subspace, I became increasing curious on how I could change the world around me, programming, graphics, whoring myself out the usual stuff. Anyway thats when I went around becoming staff at zones, the usual route of being seemingly interested in an interesting zone (at that time Omniverse (now a TW map) then I began to learn how to edit stuff, "Oh look I can paint my warbird RED and play as it" then I began to look at creating my own zone (didn't last long) then I worked on Mystic Kingdom, as most of you know. Cutting it short I believe my career path (Computer Science (games development) was chosen due to my exploits in Subspace/ continuum and the people I met (yes including some of you, scary eh?) So a question to the rest of you, How has this little 2D shoot them down change your life?Regards Quote
»jabjabjab Posted January 15, 2010 Report Posted January 15, 2010 Heh, brought me to a whole new level of sets of goals that has brought me still to this day & age trying to accomplish. Quote
aquarius Posted January 15, 2010 Report Posted January 15, 2010 I started playing when I was like 11. I didn't do anything technical on the computer at that time. I think tile sets were the first graphics I ever made. I definitely got into making graphics because of this game and now I make money that way. So yea. Subspace made a developer out of me. Go Subspace. Quote
L.C. Posted January 15, 2010 Report Posted January 15, 2010 (edited) 7-8 when I started playing. Question: How has this game changed you?Answer: It has destroyed my life. Edited January 16, 2010 by L.C. Quote
Synister Posted January 16, 2010 Report Posted January 16, 2010 I lost countless hours of my life. But met some cool people. I don't know how but this game inspired me to become a police officer O_o Quote

Trained Posted January 16, 2010 Report Posted January 16, 2010 It actually did the same for me, made me more curious to how things work, so I went out and figured it out on my own. Ty Subspace. Oh, and I had alot of firsts here. Like, my first online cyber, with Audrey about a year ago, and weve been at it daily since. Cre joins in sometimes aswell. Good day, eh? Quote

Simulacrum Posted January 16, 2010 Report Posted January 16, 2010 It wasted a fuckton of the time I should have been spending on homework. In the long run, worth it. Quote
Audry Posted January 16, 2010 Report Posted January 16, 2010 LOOOOOL Trained and Cre, you're two dumbass!! <3 Quote
Dr Brain Posted January 16, 2010 Report Posted January 16, 2010 The game didn't change me, I changed the game! Well, actually I learned tons of programming and graphics design through SS. I wouldn't be half the programmer I am today without this game. Quote

BDwinsAlt Posted January 16, 2010 Report Posted January 16, 2010 It made me a chronic masturbator at the age of 13. Well maybe that's normal. Anyway, yeah I have a whole new respect for programmers and any type of developer now. I didn't even know html before I started playing (if you call that a language). Also it made me switch operating systems. I wouldn't know wtf Linux was unless I met someone else using it. Quote
»jabjabjab Posted January 17, 2010 Report Posted January 17, 2010 damn dude that levi is sexy! (unzips) Quote
X_PennyWise Posted January 17, 2010 Report Posted January 17, 2010 I started when I was 12-13. Learned HTML and built my first website, been my family's computer repair man since then. Plus I'm currently finishing a degree in Web Design. All thanks to the people I met in SS. The big thing was making my first arena. After I realized I could program an arena's settings, I moved on to HTML. The rest is history Quote
Chambahs Posted January 17, 2010 Report Posted January 17, 2010 I learned how to become a mastery troller IRL. People cry themselves to sleep at night. Quote
»Purge Posted January 18, 2010 Report Posted January 18, 2010 My life? Not much at all. My internet life? I can now type 20x faster than my friends and am able to use acronyms for almost anything. Quote
PoLiX Posted January 18, 2010 Report Posted January 18, 2010 You could get a government job. They use acronyms for EVERYTHING that is more than 1 word, haha. "Have your SAA contact your HSO with the HWF." Good times. Taught me a lot about programming, graphics, networking, coding, etc. Amongst a lot of other stuff. Quote
