Confess Posted December 23, 2009 Report Posted December 23, 2009 Hello, After a long time of not playing Continuum, I decided to re-install subspace. In this period of time that I've been playing/etc - I've noticed that there is a lot of dead zones on the serverlist, zones that are only crowding it - which might detour people from playing this game all together. If we are going to bring back Continuum, we need to spruce up Continuum. Since we cannot do any adjustments to the actual client, it is important to keep the zones as up to date as possible. If we do not keep the zones up to date, you detour not only new people, but also the old. Case and point: Metal Gear, it seems as though it was basically abandoned, and so the zone died. Your zone will die unless you keep it up to date, and so I am asking you to please, if you are the zone owner, either step down or hire new help. We need to spruce up Continuum, it is very unattractive the way it looks now. We need to completely overhaul the zones. Just the simpliest touches can make things look so much nicer, and give it the fresh clean feeling of 'new'. Zone Hosts: If you have a dead zone, while I am not asking you to kick them, please remove them from the directory. Especially if it is a development zone. Until the zone owner comes back, there is no point in having it on there. It simply crowds up the directory. With Regards,Confess Quote

Really, no need to tank me. Quote
Confess Posted December 23, 2009 Author Report Posted December 23, 2009 Thats not sarcasm, we need zone owners to step up and make changes to their zones...And zone hosts need to make sure their zone owners are keeping up with their zone. Quote
»1587200 Posted December 23, 2009 Report Posted December 23, 2009 Not gonna happen Confess. Everyone around here is way too lazy and they don't care anymore, hence the continued downward spiral that the game continues on. Any talks that require people to do stuff usually end up in a bunch of sarcastic cynical replies that do nothing but continue to hurt the game. A few people actually want to see the game survive, but are just constantly met with b.s. Quote

A few people actually want to see the game survive, but are just constantly met with b.s. If my sarcasm hurt the game (which I'm sure if you have a survey will prove doubtful) I apologize. You need something more centralized to control this. Without structure, you have inconsistency, and inability for accountability and that diminishes progress. And that's where we are today. If you are not part of the system, you are no better then they guy on the street that some how found a megaphone calling out to everyone that god is coming. Look on the bright side... Quote
X_PennyWise Posted December 24, 2009 Report Posted December 24, 2009 I don't mean to take much offense to the slight at MG, but honestly, the lack of population isn't entirely our fault. Take DSB for instance, at this moment, there are 63 players in there. Sure, much more than us, but not long ago it was 100+ pretty much every time I logged in. Our pop was generally in the 60-80 range back then, so is it unrealistic to think that SS population has died in general? Anyway, we are trying something now to get at least some sort of population. There is relatively no staff left in MG let alone dev, and I'm working with what I have at the moment. Just be sure to check our news next week, we are having a tourney with an Xbox 360 up for grabs, as well as signups for CTF League that will take place the following weekend Quote
rootbear75 Posted December 24, 2009 Report Posted December 24, 2009 MG died not too long after Kn|ght stepped down from what I saw.... Quote
Confess Posted December 24, 2009 Author Report Posted December 24, 2009 Not to go off topic, but MG should go back to the old red/blue map and setts...It was really cool. Quote
Chambahs Posted December 24, 2009 Report Posted December 24, 2009 Who gives a fuck? and confess, just shut your mouth, what would you know? Who the hell are you to tell zone owners to step down? Lmao, you entertain me. Quote
Audry Posted December 24, 2009 Report Posted December 24, 2009 Well actually, few players are trying to bring mg back. You might see some changes soon enough Quote

Kilo Posted December 24, 2009 Report Posted December 24, 2009 Is this an appeal from the directory janitor? What difference does it make who's on the directory? The major zones are sorted to the top. What does up to date mean? Some zones like not lagging up their player's computers with unnecessary crap. This is not sarcasm, cynicism, or laziness. I'm genuinely concerned about the assumptions being made here. Quote
Confess Posted December 24, 2009 Author Report Posted December 24, 2009 If you are a new player, and you see tons of dead zones on your directory, it will discourage you from playing as it appears as though the game itself is dead. However, my concern is moreso for those with zones that are lacking to do updates or changes. Ones that have basically let the zone run its course, or where the owner has abandoned the zone and left it up to the sysops/staff to manage while he is no where to be found. Confess Quote
PoLiX Posted December 24, 2009 Report Posted December 24, 2009 Not really. When I started SS, not many zones had a lot of pop outside of VIE zones, but I still went to them cause I figured there'd be more unique settings/gameplay. Quote
»Lynx Posted December 24, 2009 Report Posted December 24, 2009 I'd have to agree that any new zone should have their fighting chance, and should be allowed in the main directory listing. Things are sorted by population, anyway. I do respect your views that zones should try harder to stay updated, or close though. I think in order for this to happen zones should be passed to the next person willing to give development a try more readily. This is something that current zone owners, or abandoned zones administrators need to think more about, and I guess only really applies to a very small amount of zones. Quote
rootbear75 Posted December 24, 2009 Report Posted December 24, 2009 MG died not too long after Kn|ght stepped down from what I saw.... Not to get off topic but I don't ever remember knight "stepping down"...i thought i remember reading something that said he was "going away" or "resigning" or something... Quote
Kilo Posted December 24, 2009 Report Posted December 24, 2009 When I was a new player I didn't care that there were zones that had 0-19 population because there were zones that had 20-a lot... I probably didn't even look at the directory list real close because I was joining to play a specific zone others were playing. How many people join this game to play "Continuum" and not a specific zone? Quote
Audry Posted December 24, 2009 Report Posted December 24, 2009 i thought i remember reading something that said he was "going away" or "resigning" or something... huh he stopped loggin... but never officially "stepped down" Quote
