Lera Posted January 25, 2010 Report Posted January 25, 2010 Question for server:Who punishes the person that punishes the wrong doer? The way I see it. Doing bad is wrong. Doing it to prove you're right, is still wrong. Doesn't matter your intentions. Quote
NBVegita Posted January 25, 2010 Author Report Posted January 25, 2010 I ask you now, why doesn't a judge go to jail for sentencing a man to jail? Why don't the guards and wardens? Why is it only with the "eye for an eye" concept do you think that the person distributing punishment deserves punishment, but in our current system they don't? That is very hypocritical. Quote
Lera Posted January 25, 2010 Report Posted January 25, 2010 HURTING someone else should NEVER be done, even if its for punishment. Becuase then the good guys become bad guys also. Quote

If it becomes a law to cut the nuts off all rapists, and as a result of this law one less person is raped because a potential rapist was deterred from committing a rape, then I say do it. Quote
Simulacrum Posted January 26, 2010 Report Posted January 26, 2010 Yeah, see — the "prevent one crime at all costs" conclusion is why I can simultaneously think that Lera's position is complete hippie bollocks and that your position is completely fucking nuts. (Pun intentional? We report, you decide!) Quote
NBVegita Posted January 26, 2010 Author Report Posted January 26, 2010 (edited) HURTING someone else should NEVER be done, even if its for punishment. Becuase then the good guys become bad guys also. So the soldiers who ended Hitler's rule are bad guys? If someone tries to hurt you and you hurt yourself defending them, you're a bad guy? Police officers hurt people, I guess they're bad guys? Boxers hurt each other, I guess they're bad guys? Damn I guess I'm happy I'm a bad guy. Edited January 26, 2010 by NBVegita Quote
Lera Posted January 26, 2010 Report Posted January 26, 2010 self defense is the only exception I see in my mind that is ok to hurt another human being (other than sport - even then there is limits) Thats common sense I thought. You bad guy Guess I shouldn't have been more specific for the smart asses out there... oops. Quote
NBVegita Posted January 27, 2010 Author Report Posted January 27, 2010 But why is it only wrong to cause someone physical pain (as punishment) and not emotional? Why is there a division? And I would ask you to elaborate on why it is wrong to cause someone physical pain for punishment. Quote
SeVeR Posted January 27, 2010 Report Posted January 27, 2010 Like NBV said, prison causes pain too, so why is physical pain wrong if prison is right? Quote
