L.C. Posted January 2, 2010 Author Report Posted January 2, 2010 (edited) I didn't setup the Goal in Analytics correctly. We shall see for results within the next 48 hours. EDIT: That or no results since the last couple days. Edited January 2, 2010 by L.C. Quote

rootbear75 Posted January 4, 2010 Report Posted January 4, 2010 i want to see how many clicks are actually downloading the game, idk where to do that. Quote
L.C. Posted January 4, 2010 Author Report Posted January 4, 2010 (edited) Try going to http://www.google.com/analytics and logging in with the same username and password you used to login at http://www.google.com/adwords After logging in, you want to click on View Reports for www.getcontinuum.com and then go to Goals. So unless I set something up incorrectly, then indeed none of the clicks actually download the client. EDIT: Tomorrow I will set the daily budget to $16 for one 6PM-10PM session to see what would happen.EDIT2: After that I will set it back to $3.50 for a few more days and also run the maximum search CPC at $1.00 instead of $0.10 and see how much of a difference it would make in results. Well, here's to hoping you set it up incorrectly. *tips glass* Is it possible for the website owner to check how many times the client itself was downloaded, even if it's not checking to see if it's related to the google adwords? Also, not sure if you looked, but I think most of our clicks might be from spiders. Regardless, we've had some visitors stay and browse through the site for a few minutes. Check it out: http://img32.imageshack.us/img32/8259/visitx.jpg That's 176 people that have stayed on getcontinuum for more than 10 seconds. I feel like my money was well-invested. **** Getcontinuum is also getting returning visitors! http://img138.imageshack.us/img138/7913/returns.jpg Edited January 5, 2010 by Xog Quote
L.C. Posted January 5, 2010 Author Report Posted January 5, 2010 (edited) Is it possible for the website owner to check how many times the client itself was downloaded, even if it's not checking to see if it's related to the google adwords? It is very likely that the website owner can check. Most webhosts come with some form of statistics generation like AwStats, Analyzer, etc. One of these could tell how many times the file itself was actually downloaded, regardless of everything. Also, not sure if you looked, but I think most of our clicks might be from spiders. This is likely and true no matter who you are advertising with. It is common practice and virtually impossible to stop. Competitors can use spiders against their competitors to use up their funds. The results of 1/5/2010 should be featuring the $17.50 daily budget test. When I set it to that, Google AdWords recommended me a newer and higher budget of something like $83.75. Nothing wrong with this feature though, just now know how it works and what it is for. Technically, it will always keep recommending you a higher and higher budget until you get 100% of the Internet clicking your ads. (Which we know will never happen to anyone.) EDIT: Return visits, nice! Didn't know Analytics tracked that. Edited January 5, 2010 by L.C. Quote

»freakmonger Posted January 6, 2010 Report Posted January 6, 2010 (edited) I'm afraid that bots are accessing the download links... getcontinuum.com January 2010 Monthly Stats: URL - /downloads/continuum/Continuum040Setup.exe Hits on Above URL - 663 Dec and Nov had 5000+ hits on that URL each month... rootbear75 Posted January 6, 2010 Report Posted January 6, 2010 Question; does the adwords also apply to android phones as well? I've seen ad supported apps that use google so I was wondering if it applies. Quote
L.C. Posted January 6, 2010 Author Report Posted January 6, 2010 (edited) Question; does the adwords also apply to android phones as well? I've seen ad supported apps that use google so I was wondering if it applies.I believe so. There are three ad groups -- two of which are text advertisements and the other an image advertisement. If either one or both kinds of advertisements show up in phones, then the answer to your question is absolutely yes. EDIT: In fact, Google Analytics shows that we got ONE visit from an iPhone user on 1/5/2010 ($17.50 budget test). Results for the $17.50 daily budget are in for 1/5/2010; features 191 clicks. Set the Daily Budget back to $3.50, but also set the Max Search CPC to $3.50 from $0.20 (or $0.10 initially). Edited January 6, 2010 by L.C. Quote

L.C. Posted January 6, 2010 Author Report Posted January 6, 2010 (edited) Ok! Right now, let's create some more advertisement groups. Think of ideas and some advertisements while reading:http://www.webmasterworld.com/forum81/2839.htmhttp://www.googlelady.com/416/10-killer-headline-adwords-tips/http://www.googlelady.com/335/51-tips-adwords/http://www.addme.com/newsletters/issue269.htmhttp://adwords.google.com/support/aw/bin/static.py?page=tips.html Here are some ones I came up with: Pending approvalhttp://www.hlrse.net/Qwerty/gaw_ss3.png Added (did not require approval)http://www.hlrse.net/Qwerty/gaw_ss4.pnghttp://www.hlrse.net/Qwerty/gaw_ss5.pnghttp://www.hlrse.net/Qwerty/gaw_ss6.pnghttp://www.hlrse.net/Qwerty/gaw_ss7.png The more advertisements we can come up with, the better because they will cover a broad range and variety of searches and improve page content targeting. Don't be afraid to suggest duplicates with minor variations (such as using one period at the end of a statement versus three periods). Edited January 6, 2010 by L.C. Quote
