Guest Halpz Posted December 4, 2009 Report Posted December 4, 2009 I've been thinking of possible new games using the Continuum engine. Is this possible? I understand the code is copyrighted (or at least protected) but I wish to speak with someone high up who as access to it. Entirely new games could be made with the Continuum engine that wouldn't take the player base of Continuum but could still make a lot of money. Continuum is the only game I've found that gets as close to "raw skill" as possible- and I feel that this is a great starting place for a new and possibly profitable game. Let me know. Thanks
aquarius Posted December 4, 2009 Report Posted December 4, 2009 Yes Continuum is a great game engine. You don't need the Continuum source to use it. See the server software: http://forums.minegoboom.com/viewtopic.php?t=6122 You can basically do anything in your own zone if you can work with C and/or Python. Otherwise, lots can be done using a less-advanced server: http://subspacedownloads.com/index.php?act=file&fid=27Launch your server, be a sysop, and hit esc-c in-game to see many of the things you can customize.
krslynx Posted December 4, 2009 Report Posted December 4, 2009 I think he was more so after the Client, in which case it's closed source and I don't think you'd have any luck getting the source - as personally I believe that Continuum isn't even built completely from source and the owners of said 'source code' are pretty much impossible to contact. It'd be cheaper for you to start from scratch, a lot cheaper.
Samapico Posted December 4, 2009 Report Posted December 4, 2009 Continuum is closed source and you won't have access to the code, and probably no one ever will But check out the project Discretion... It's basically Continuum being remade as an open-sourced project. There's a sub-forum in the game projects category here
