What does this Sniper v0.40 "explosion" graphic go to?

I can't figure this one out. I am guessing this is the animation played on players whose ships are being hit with bullets -- Continuum does not have any images with the dimensions 384x24. Suggestions?

reminds me of a emp. was prob a early version of it. if i could contact the edamed artist, he'd know :-/

Sniper never had electromagnetic pulse bombs, just three regular bomb levels (red, green, blue). Bomb explosions are ruled out though, since there's already another graphic used for those. This particular one is used for ship explosions, such as suicide (F12).
