For some reason when u enter a zone saying you need to update to continum .39 prerealese when u click ont he mirror links it gives u a worm. Its happened on my zone and a few others ive visited. This can be very bad to people who dont have virus protection!

meh i dunno XD.. and unconfirmed report of it doesn't mean it's accurate.. it could be you had a worm on there before XD... lol... its best to try and figure out where you're dloading the file from..

yeah i got that to, as soon as i clicked the link norton came up and told me it had found a virus of sorts, and then when you continue on to the link, it is a mirror site for 0.38,

i just did a full system scan and came up with 2 viruses, bleh bleh bleh

many things are classified simply as "a virus" by many AV's - some of them are just tiny tiny TINY little bugs that happen to be able to crash this great (ha...hahahahhaha) OS we call Windows

[Geordi]"Yes, Captain. In fact, we found the answer by searching

[Riker looks puzzled.] "What the -*BAD WORD*- is 'Microsoft'?"

 

[Data turns to answer.] "Allow me to explain. We will send this

program, for some reason called 'Windows', through the Borg command

pathways. Once inside their root command unit, it will begin consuming

system resources at an unstoppable rate."

 

[Picard] "But the Borg have the ability to adapt. Won't they alter

their processing systems to increase their storage capacity?"

 

[Data] "Yes, Captain. But when 'Windows' detects this, it creates a new

version of itself known as an 'upgrade'. The use of resources increases

exponentially with each iteration. The Borg will not be able to adapt

quickly enough. Eventually all of their processing ability will be

taken over and none will be available for their normal operational

functions."

 

[Picard] "Excellent work. This is even better than that 'unsolvable

geometric shape' idea."

 

. . 15 Minutes Later . . .

 

[Data] "Captain, We have successfully installed the 'Windows' in the

command unit and as expected it immediately consumed 85% of all

resources. We however have not received any confirmation of the

expected 'upgrade'."

 

[Geordi] "Our scanners have picked up an increase in Borg storage and

CPU capacity to compensate, but we still have no indication of an

'upgrade' to compensate for their increase."

 

[Picard] "Data, scan the history banks again and determine if their is

something we have missed."

 

[Data] "Sir, I believe there is a reason for the failure in the

upgrade'. Appearently the Borg have cir-*BAD WORD*-vented that part of the plan

by not sending in their registration cards.

 

[Riker] "Captain we have no choice. Requesting permission to begin

emergency escape sequence 3F . . ."

 

[Geordi, excited] "Wait, Captain I just detected their CPU capacity has

suddenly dropped to 0% !"

 

[Picard] "Data, what does your scanners show?"

 

[Data] "Appearently the Borg have found the internal 'Windows' module

named 'Solitaire' and it has used up all the CPU capacity."

 

[Picard] "Lets wait and see how long this 'solitaire' can reduce their

functionality."

[Riker] "Geordi whats the status on the Borg?"

 

[Geordi] "As expected the Borg are attempting to re-engineer to

compensate for increased CPU and storage demands, but each time they

successfully increase resources I have setup our closest deep space

monitor beacon to transmit more 'windows' modules from something called

the 'Microsoft fun-pack'.

 

[Picard] "How much time will that buy us ?"

 

[Data] "Current Borg solution rates allow me to predicate an interest

time span of 6 more hours."

 

[Geordi] "Captain, another vessel has entered our sector."

 

[Picard] "Identify."

 

[Data] "It appears to have markings very similar to the 'Microsoft'

logo"

 

[Over the speakers] "THIS IS ADMIRAL BILL GATES OF THE MICROSOFT

i had a virus... couldnt get in driz's zone at all, now after installing nortan hardly nothing works...i cnt get in any new zone cuz it says i need to d/l continuum to upgrade it

This is what my log file says( Somehow,the virus says that theres a new update in 0.38,not 0.39 )

The file

C:\Program Files\Continuum\ContinuumUpdate.exe

was infected with the W32.Pinfi virus.

The file was repaired.

 

The virus usally pops up in some unnoffical zones...

The worm described spreads over network shares. It causes no real damage (its only created to spread) but it'll probably stop continuum from working since it checks itself for tampering. NOTHING to do with Priitk and nothing we can do unless someone gives the link.

i got it too one time but norton took it away and norton is gay to me bah update subscription

Norton is by far one of the worst 'security suites' out there. It plays command and conquer with your computer attempting to gobble up everything and turn it into a massive pile of crap. There are free antivirus scanners out there which blow norton away and use 1/4 of the system resources. People are simply too simple minded to find and use them.
