»LtNirvana Posted October 9, 2009 Report Posted October 9, 2009 How long does the failed password lockout last. I didn't even enter an incorrect password. I was creating aliases (a lot of them fairly quickly) and it's locked me out (seemingly by IP) and I can't log into ANY frickin aliases now. IT SAYS TRY BACK IN SEVERAL HOURS!!! What the fuck? Why does it lock out for several hours thats ridiculous. It doesn't even give a time. Is that not the most assanine lockout system ever? I'm a zone sysop I can't be bothered with such BS Quote
»gallitin Posted October 9, 2009 Report Posted October 9, 2009 Dunno, happened to me before only took a few minutes and it let me log back in. Quote
Samapico Posted October 9, 2009 Report Posted October 9, 2009 It's not a limit on failed attempts, it's a limit on login count per IP... pretty sure.Even if you log in with the same username several times in a row, I think you can get locked out.Either that, or they limit wrong passwords + new users, to avoid someone making hundreds of aliases and pointlessly filling the db I guess. Dav Posted October 9, 2009 Report Posted October 9, 2009 I think its based on failed PW attempts per IP, presumably to prevent brute forcing cracking PWs and flooding the server Quote

»doc flabby Posted October 10, 2009 Report Posted October 10, 2009 (edited) When you create a new name, it actually registers as a failed password attempt I think. I think (if i recall correctly) in the protocol it sends back a failed password response but also tells the client it can attempt to create a new name using that name and to try again.
