Seagrave Posted December 23, 2009 Report Posted December 23, 2009 I played as Warhammer in the original Beta and subsequent retail product. I created the squad Time Bandits, which eventually spawned Striker and then went on to create Gemini. Eventually I joined Reds as probably one of the least skilled pilots in there I attended the SubSpace convention in San Diego just after the retail launch. I worked on the first subspace fanzine co-producing a report of the first subspace convention. I was the first person to have a player made map put up on the official servers and then quickly brought down again when people found a mistake in it where flags could get trapped, ops. I helped form the Map Making Guild which was the first organisation in to making player made maps and publishing guides for others to do the same. Haven’t played in years, just thought I would look up if anyone even still plays this Yes - I remember you and I played with you on StRiKeR and on ReDS...along with Vipyr. I haven't looked at Subspace/Continuum in years. I downloaded it and sure enough I am still joined to the ReDS squad. Playing since the early beta's. I still have the original SubSpace CD and case that I bought when the game was sold in retail. Good to seee you WarHammer. I may jump online tonight and see if I can remember how to play this game correctly Flagging in 1996 was so natural - now I have to relearn the keybord a bit but I'm sure it will come back
Trained Posted December 25, 2009 Report Posted December 25, 2009 Sounds like a resume... you looking for a job? Sorry, no I didnt mean it to sound like that. Just trying to list some things that might jog peoples memories I think I might still have the web files for the first convention. If I can dig it up I will try to put it up on the web somewhere so you can have a look see. I think there was a second convention the next year in Miami, but I didnt go to that one. Ill try some of the other forums as suggested, many thanks I could see myself hanging out with Cre and Audrey at a convention.Afk, daydreaming. -TrainedWe’ve created the greatest collection of shared knowledge in history. This was in 1998, don't have the exact date but I can get it to you pretty much down to the minute as I can just ?usage it out of the name with ID 8, ho ho ho. Baudchaser, BD Vine, Mrs Perkins, Fiery, Anna-Puma, and the other guys from Langoliers / RAF / Warzone administration would have low IDs.
★ Lynx Posted February 1, 2012 Report Posted February 1, 2012 I see Baudchaser quite frequently on AIM; I had him on my old Facebook account too. He seemed to be living it up pretty well.

Out of the blue the forum emailed me this morning and asked why I hadn’t posted anything since 2012 😊 Yes, I remember you. I think you and I were both going off to uni around the time we lost touch? Hello everyone else that posted a reply too. I don’t even remember posting the original message for this here 😊 I did find those convention pictures (about 5yrs later) on an unused hard drive, but then couldn’t remember where and who I had mentioned sharing them with 😅 I dont know what happened to Vipyr. Im terrible for keeping in touch with people from back then (i blame ICQ) Attached image is the Hooters party in San Diego October 1997. The SS development team paid the bill for all of us as I recall

But mine was then further edited by others and used in other maps, so might be a hybrid We had a website that ran up to 1998 called Map Makers Guild. It was basically a bunch of us that wanted to get our maps used on the official servers. I think everyone from that group got at least one map up at some point? Arctos had the most success, Romulans (which you see posted above) had a map. I didn’t fair so well as although I got the first ever fan-made map to be used (as far as I know). There was a place people could glitch drop the eggs so other players couldn’t get them and unfortunately that map only lasted one evening of play. Arctos was just in a league above everyone else in his tile design
Cap'nCloak Posted September 19 Report Posted September 19 Holy Necropost, Bat Man. How many of us oldies will the forum-mail-bomb pull out of the woodwork!?
No_Remorse Posted September 20 Report Posted September 20 (edited) When i started making maps in about 99 I looked up to the SS mapmaker's guild. People like Einexile, Cuervo muerto, perhaps Captain Harloch?, were members whose abillity I admired. I remember getting an arena in SCF West(run by einexile? or was it silentdragon, idk), and some of the interesting dev work that happened in there. Edited September 20 by No_Remorse Women are like Elephants. I like to watch them, but I wouldn't want to own one.
