ironbuket Posted October 5, 2009 Report Posted October 5, 2009 I played as Warhammer in the original Beta and subsequent retail product. I created the squad Time Bandits, which eventually spawned Striker and then went on to create Gemini. Eventually I joined Reds as probably one of the least skilled pilots in there I attended the SubSpace convention in San Diego just after the retail launch. I worked on the first subspace fanzine co-producing a report of the first subspace convention. I was the first person to have a player made map put up on the official servers and then quickly brought down again when people found a mistake in it where flags could get trapped, ops. I helped form the Map Making Guild which was the first organisation in to making player made maps and publishing guides for others to do the same. Haven’t played in years, just thought I would look up if anyone even still plays this
»Purge Posted October 5, 2009 Report Posted October 5, 2009 You should keep up your activism for Continuum.
ironbuket Posted October 5, 2009 Author Report Posted October 5, 2009 No. No, oh thats a shame. Was anyone who posts on here even in the Beta?
Audry Posted October 5, 2009 Report Posted October 5, 2009 Sounds like a resume... you looking for a job?
»doc flabby Posted October 5, 2009 Report Posted October 5, 2009 (edited) You might find some old players hanging out on the SVS (standard VIE settings) forums http://www.svszone.com/forum/ I (only) started playing in 2004, you could try some of the other zones forums for example TrenchWars forums.trenchwars.org are pretty active (quite a few retired players there) Have you got any of the original stuff from back then, it might be interesting to see the fanzine for us "newer" players, to fill in some gaps in the history of this game The game is still surprisingly still going..population peaks around 1000-1200 daily...but probably has changed somewhat since you played, most zones use their own settings, which change the gameplay substantially from the original from what I understand, i'm a relatively new player Edited October 5, 2009 by doc flabby

ironbuket Posted October 7, 2009 Author Report Posted October 7, 2009 Sounds like a resume... you looking for a job? Sorry, no I didnt mean it to sound like that. Just trying to list some things that might jog peoples memories I think I might still have the web files for the first convention. If I can dig it up I will try to put it up on the web somewhere so you can have a look see. I think there was a second convention the next year in Miami, but I didnt go to that one. Ill try some of the other forums as suggested, many thanks

Sass Posted October 9, 2009 Report Posted October 9, 2009 (edited) Neat summary of your history. I joined in 1995 - played. Played when Polix quit. Then he came back. And quit again. For good that time. And then he came back. Then quit. And...I think he came back that time. That was in 02. Since then, I think he quit and came back more often then the number of times HS crashed! (i hear it coming...) Anyway, so I still play. Dunno you, welcome back. Edited October 9, 2009 by Sass
