UJGS Posted October 5, 2009 Report Posted October 5, 2009 (edited) Hey all, I am hoping today that I will be able to get some help, I recently played continuum a few years back and was wondering if I could get anything to help me along my way, would anybody be willingly enough to create this simple little guideline to improve my aim to what it was? http://img251.imageshack.us/i/screenshot102.png/ I have a turret aimer which is just like this and it really does help, I was wondering if somebody would make it for just my normal ship, without being turreted, please anyone? UJGS Posted October 5, 2009 Author Report Posted October 5, 2009 (edited) it is not that hard to do, but it would show up for enemy ships to Hey, thanks for the reply. I have tried and my lines just end up over the ship or my ship goes totally blank. I have edited just one ship with a line and used a ship rotator tool to do it and ends up with same result, could you possible talk me through it or help me make it, I wanna be as much help as possible tbh, and I have added your msn, hope you don't mind. peace Edited October 5, 2009 by UJGS
»jabjabjab Posted October 6, 2009 Report Posted October 6, 2009 (edited) I'd love to play with blender to try this out. this would also be a cool turn on/off feature for discretion Edited October 6, 2009 by jabjabjab
Samapico Posted October 6, 2009 Report Posted October 6, 2009 I used to have a huge turretting gfx that showed a nice aiming line both on screen and on radar It was so huge, it took like 10 seconds of loading just before entering an arena, like when it freezes for a short time normally... apparently that's where it loads graphics, cause that part took much longer.Imagine a 1024x768 image, tiled 8x530MB uncompressed... if it was PNG it took even more time to load cause it has to load it in a bitmap way anyway. I attached it if anyone wants to have fun The radar thing will only work at 1024x768, full screenturret.rar
rootbear75 Posted October 6, 2009 Report Posted October 6, 2009 that might be useful for LeviTerring in trench wars. where long distance bombs are the way to go
rootbear75 Posted October 6, 2009 Report Posted October 6, 2009 Or you can learn to aim.have you ever tried to aim a levi and hit it from 2 squares away? (ex: F10 -> H10)
Samapico Posted October 6, 2009 Report Posted October 6, 2009 if it shows up on the radar, it's easy otherwise, that thing won't help you either
Black Daemon Posted October 9, 2009 Report Posted October 9, 2009 I don't think the original request was about something that goes on the radar, just something to help with shooting someone on-screen. Personally, however, I don't think using this will be of much help; in fact, I'd think that it would just make your aim worse, cause when you go to play without it, you won't be used to it and you'll, well, miss a lot. Aiming takes a lot of work, and this would definitely help someone new get the hang of it all, but I think it would hurt more than help. Salaam BD
Samapico Posted October 9, 2009 Report Posted October 9, 2009 What I posted is not directly related to the OP, I'm aware of that. He was talking about ship graphics, and what I had was for turret. I just posted it cause it was somewhat related and some people might be interested with it.
»Lynx Posted October 9, 2009 Report Posted October 9, 2009 I think that this would actually make your aim worse, as bullets and bombs are often very slow. Only half of aiming is direction, the other half is timing.

Only half of aiming is direction, the other half is timing. your damn right, but I did mange to do this on my own, the BIG line was a huge distraction and always saw myself missing there ship by the littlist amounts. I made a thinner blue line which does kind of help but I might remove it in a few days just to find out which is better. I have attached the file just incase anybody wants to use, this is for WARBIRD ONLY!ship1.bm2 Edited October 10, 2009 by UJGS
L.C. Posted October 13, 2009 Report Posted October 13, 2009 Rename /graphics/hlthbar.bm2 to /graphics/hlthbar.bm2.bak and install attachment to /graphics/. Set playing resolution to 1280x1024.
Samapico Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 wtf??It's a 9 degrees radial grid... the width of the image is 2x the resolution because of how hlthbar.bm2 is
rootbear75 Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 i realize that, but how does it work
»Lynx Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 It'd work better if there was also an aimer on the ship, but as I said you'd probably find things like this more of a distraction than aid.
Samapico Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 i realize that, but how does it workIt just shows up... but yeah, you need to add something on your ship gfx to light up the grid or something. Otherwise it can still help you align with far objects I guess. You just have to know your current orientation very well in ticks. But as Lynx said, these things can be annoying... It can also simply be for the looks, if you like having a full HUD with lots of indicators and stuff.
