Happy Labor day!

 

I've updated Discretion today with the changes over the last 3 weeks or so. You can now change teams and ships with ?team # and ?ship # (so there's a way to get past ship 9 now if there were more ships). Also, the server does some basic server-side checks. I also added a targetter functionality which tells you where bombs will go in the future (see screenshot). I'm not sure if it's the final version, although I think it looks sleek. You can disable it with ?targeter

 

I also bought a new laptop, since my other one had a fan issue. Now the experimental zone should in general stay online, although hopefully my ISP won't switch my IP address too many times. Let me know if it goes offline.

I just encountered a fatal bug it seems. I downloaded a fresh copy of Discretion, and connected to the Experimental zone. Discretion updated and restarted. I then connected to the Experimental zone again, and it downloaded some config files, but it then threw a Just In Time debugging error. However, the game continued to run it seemed, until I clicked OK on the error.

 

One thing I forgot to do though, was to enter profile information. So I was trying to login without a username/pass. I don't know if that's the cause of this or not.

Could be that spec is trying to register what frames out of 40 (like a ship) you are, but in spec, you are no frames, or probably frames with loading graphics. Either way, BaK probably forgot to edit spec ship so that it has less properties. No biggy IMO

Hmm, I don't see the immediate cause. What operating system and version are you running? When you came back in did the first errors happen again? If you delete zones/Discretion Experimental Warfare folder and redownload the zone files do you get the first set of errors every time?

To answer your first two questions, I have Win XP Pro SP2, and no the first error I got didn't re-occur. I will try what you say next time I have free time.

 

Edit:

I deleted the Experimental Warfare zone, and it did the exact same thing as the first error I got. It threw the Just In Time debug message before my download finished, but the game appeared to function normally and download the zone files completely until I clicked OK, at which point the game went back the initial zone selection screen.

probably eventually sure. I was thinking after the online version is working reasonably well I could make a single player with a story line and such. Even have characters like General Priitk and Captain Ekted lool
