Mine too said 0 at the time rootbear posted this (now 26). It probably doesn't update realtime though.

meh, i thought it was because no one had viewed it who didn't post... i figured the 4 people that viewed, posted, so it didnt add to the views...

It is displaying fine for me as well. Something to keep watch of I think. I guess Hakaku's explanation is right though.

Its just optimization of the cache control. It updates views once an hr.

Is it such a performance hog that it must be cached so extremely like once a hour?

We used to have no problems with it in previous version, right?

Update Topic Views Immediately

If enabled, the topic views counter will be updated as one loads a topic. If not enabled, the topic views will be written to another table and the topic views updated every 3 hours. This will significantly reduce overhead on the topics table if you have a very busy board as it overcomes the write lock initiated when the topic counter is updated.

Views quickly gets in the hundreds anyway, I don't see the point of having it updated in real-time... If you really want to see who's viewing your topic, just stay in the page and watch the 'Who's reading this topic' list at the bottom

I've noticed this quite a few times on the TW forums in the past. It doesn't happen anymore though. I always thought the views weren't updated in real-time because they're not as important as the Replies count
