Btw root, just because you have 1 phone doesnt make it useless, idiot. Learn what you can do with it.

ok seriously? i really dont care if you don't like me, but insulting me every single fucking post is completely unneccessary.

The main advantage from what i saw google voice having is that having 1 number for multiple phones and being able to switch phones, etc...

Yea there are a few other nice features that are on there such as call screening, but like i said, it is best suited for people with multiple phones.

You can also switch your number on the fly by simply adding another number to your account, instead of hassling with the carriers to transfer your number. You can also change your number at any time, as well as screen calls, listen to voice mails as they're being recorded, listen or read your voice mail anywhere, send texts to anyone, etc.

As well as it being useful if you are doing an ebay or craigslist deal, you give them the google voice number instead of your number, same thing when your at a bar picking up chics, nobody likes people to have their number, so you give them the google voice number and then later on you can actually ban people from calling your cell if you want.

Lots of usefulness

It's also nice to have if you switch carriers. I for one enjoy it.

Phone carriers can do this now, and the only time I had to do it, I called the port team, and they had it done in about 6 hours... a little longer than i liked, but my old carrier didnt want to give it up...

but ya, ad ur new number on that and then wait for the porting service on your new carrier to get it switched over..
