wakamura Posted August 29, 2009 Report Posted August 29, 2009 This is my first time using Blender3D and since there was that 3D ships topic I wanted to try to atleast make some ships from my favorite game, but I'm kind of a noob when it comes into 3D.My first time trying Blender I came up with this. Not exactly a warbird and I didnt even try to copy a warbird. Just a first shot on making a spaceship. Hell I cant even figure out how to change the Render camera or w/e. After acouple of hours of trying I got this: If any of you guys have any tips and such it would help a lot! For example, I dont even know how to add some texture on to it and some small details. If other 3D programs are easier than Blender 3D, please let me know. ^_^ Quote
»Lynx Posted August 29, 2009 Report Posted August 29, 2009 3D Studio Max was good.. I dunno about now. -L Quote
Dr Brain Posted August 29, 2009 Report Posted August 29, 2009 There are (or were, last time I used blender) a huge number of tutorials. I'd just do tutorial after tutorial until you feel comfortable. Quote
Samapico Posted August 29, 2009 Report Posted August 29, 2009 Blender is fine, but I guess it can take a lot of time to get used to it. As Brain said, find some tutorials Quote
»jabjabjab Posted August 29, 2009 Report Posted August 29, 2009 Yeah Blender was hell to learn. I actually started out with MilkShape because of the whole ThirdSpace thing. Quote
Static Posted August 29, 2009 Report Posted August 29, 2009 (edited) Here's a tip: Keep one hand on the keyboard and the other on the mouse. For texture, press F5, and then F6. Then do the right map settings. There isn't really an easier program at the same tier, IMO. Start with Google SketchUp if you really want to. EDIT:I think I found a good tutorial: Blender 3D: Noob to Pro Edited August 29, 2009 by Static Quote
wakamura Posted August 30, 2009 Author Report Posted August 30, 2009 EDIT:I think I found a good tutorial: Blender 3D: Noob to Pro That didnt help much. But thanks for trying. Yeah Blender was hell to learn. I actually started out with MilkShape because of the whole ThirdSpace thing. I guess I'll try MilkShape. Its a lot diferent than Blender right? There are (or were, last time I used blender) a huge number of tutorials. I'd just do tutorial after tutorial until you feel comfortable. I've tried a bunch of tutorials, but the most I could find were on using Blenders game engine to make other stuff. All I want is to make 3D images.I guess I'm not suppose to use blender for that. prozaker Posted August 31, 2009 Report Posted August 31, 2009 you could try mirroring half the warbird so it ends up simetrical, otherwise u will end up with quite a few problems. Quote
»jabjabjab Posted August 31, 2009 Report Posted August 31, 2009 I did that with the lancaster's wings when editing gannon's model. same for engines, and edits to the wing bars. Quote
wakamura Posted September 1, 2009 Author Report Posted September 1, 2009 Sorry to ask a noob question but What is mirroring? If its something you can do in Blender how do u do it? Quote
»jabjabjab Posted September 1, 2009 Report Posted September 1, 2009 when you select a object, hit 'n' for a box that shows transform properties. Once there, there is scale. If you centered your object when creating it, this should help. for a wing, if the wing crosses the 'x' line on the ship, duplicate the wing by typing "Shift+D". after this just click right click to cancel movement of the object. Then, go to the transform properties box and make the scale of the wing '=1' or whatever scale it is and make it negative. You dont even need to mess with mirroring the texture or creating a entire new one just to flip the texture. Quote
