protocol_ Posted August 24, 2009 Report Posted August 24, 2009 Yes it is long. If you don't feel like reading my rage just skip to the bold and you will get the jist of everything. We have all seen what has happened to items that become so overpowered that they are spammed and ruin flag games. It started off with thors, which now have been nerfed by the ammo depots. Then the use of fields which was evident from the beginning on how they can clear out flag rooms in an instant. When both of the previous have been nerfed/removed, the next in line became bricks. Countless amount of bricks have now been used (the most i saw at once was a quad-stack (4) in a row) to stop teams in their tracks right outside of a flag room and cleared shortly after. From what I have noticed, the owner of the brick would lay the brick and immediately warp out of the base to buy another one. I know that Anti Warp would prevent this from happening and reducing the amount of spammed bricks, but the fact at hand is that they can touch center warp and still have the brick in affect. Is it possible to have bricks clear when the owner touches safe like every other item? Quote
Psythe Posted August 24, 2009 Report Posted August 24, 2009 I like your idea on having bricks disappear when the owner respawns. I disagree with some other parts of bricks though: They drop stupidly. Bricks used to drop along your wingspan (if you were facing north, the brick dropped horizontal, etc), and now they're harder to get to drop how you want them. FURTHERMORE, a majority of the time, you get ripped off. Your brick doesn't even show up. If it does show up, it'll probably be placed in a stupid direction or something. Can we have them be dropped right? Please? Can we have them brickwarp people like it used to be? Pretty dumb that bricks got nerfed to hell because people wouldn't use their repels wisely. Hmm, I wouldn't bet that bricks could be made to disappear at a certain time, protocol. As far as I know, they live as long as the settings say they do. (Otherwise, wouldn't we have bricks that last longer than others?) err - just realized that PERHAPS a brick could be dropped by a fake player in the exact spot where a real player "placed" a brick. Make it drop that brick over and over (about 5 second life... could it drop a brick over a brick?) until it would've normally timed out or until the owner of it respawns. Hmm... Quote
Kilo Posted August 24, 2009 Report Posted August 24, 2009 Or we can just wait until shipchange delay is fixed, and then you can use antiwarp to solve all of your problems. Since that one is actually possible. Quote
Samapico Posted August 24, 2009 Report Posted August 24, 2009 Or make antiwarp block shipchanges Quote
protocol_ Posted August 24, 2009 Author Report Posted August 24, 2009 Or we can just wait until shipchange delay is fixed, and then you can use antiwarp to solve all of your problems. Since that one is actually possible. Yeah I noticed that a couple days ago and I wanted to bring it up but no mods were on at the time. Then I figured you all probably already knew about it because yall are always on top of things. Quote
Acer Posted August 24, 2009 Report Posted August 24, 2009 Or make antiwarp block shipchangesThen how would you neut if someone had antiwarp? Spec? Quit? Quote
Samapico Posted August 24, 2009 Report Posted August 24, 2009 Drop outside flag room , or get teamkilled Quote
LeftsideChaos Posted August 24, 2009 Report Posted August 24, 2009 OR WE COULD JUST ENABLE FIELDS AGAIN AND NOT CHANGE ANYTHING ELSE. /cruisecontrol Quote

bammedfoo Posted August 25, 2009 Report Posted August 25, 2009 One thing caused another, when thors were used excessively mods nerfed, then because of that we switched to fields, now that those are gone, we will whitch to bricks. Why not leave everything the way it is. Or delay thor speed so people at least will waste their rep from a thor. Anyways thors could be repped back but its the players fault for not repping it because of wasting money. Why kill HS. Quote
»Ceiu Posted August 26, 2009 Report Posted August 26, 2009 Your post certainly does contain words, doesn't it? Quote
Aileron Posted August 31, 2009 Report Posted August 31, 2009 Fundamentally, the cure for bricks is thors. A mass thor barrage is a legitimate tactic used to counter an overly camptastic defense. The only problem with thors in HS is that the fundamental cure for the thor, the repel, has a short radius which is just barely bigger than the prox on the thor, so you have to get it *just right*. I'll admit there are no easy answers. We could bring thors back and reduce their speed or prox, but that would affect all bombs, so that probably shouldn't be tried. We could also make repels stronger, but then they might be overpowered. Or we could nerf everything and the zone would suck. My suggestion: Bring thors back, and improve repels a little so that the thors aren't too strong. You could increase repel's radius without affecting typical gameplay too much, and then the thors would be countered by repels and the bricks countered by thors. As for fields, my two cents is that the only overpowered field was lightning. But, fields should be back as soon as possible, as long as they meet the following criteria: Neutrality: They should affect all ships that pass into them. Obviously one team will be hurt more than the other, but then its up the the user's skill in assessing the situation. Also, it eliminates the confusion of 'is it our field or theirs?'. Non lethality: Face it, getting killed by a bot always sucks. Pass-ability: You should always be able to fly through one and in fighting shape when you reach the other side. If a defense uses a field to disrupt an offense in order to kill them, that's one thing, but if a defense just collapsed and then the lone survivor lays a field which delays the offense until the defense can re-attach, then its overpowered. That isn't to say a field can't slow somebody down, but you shouldn't have to wait for it to go away if the defense isn't present. Generally, as long as a field possesses these three characteristics, you can make the purchasable in the center and they still can't be overpowered. My suggestions:The repel-field was good. Just make it repel both teams.A field that absorbs all weapons fire, but ships can fly through.A giant graphic which simply covers an area so you can't see what's underneath it.A field which creates decoys of every ship that enters. (The decoys would have a bots name, but it still could spam images)A field which warps entering players to the opposite side of it. (You'd have to have a check preventing ppl from using it to get into a flag room) Finally, an anti-field field Quote
Cheese Posted September 3, 2009 Report Posted September 3, 2009 simple fix: put a TIME LIMIT on bricks per freq.time limit is up, that team can use another brick. CASE CLOSED Quote
