mkruer Posted August 17, 2009 Author Report Posted August 17, 2009 Ahh dude I would really love to make tiles for ya, but damn you should have caught me around january when that was all I ever cared about doing. too busy now. Honestly, the tiles you have now are fine. I kindof like them IMO I can more or less make the texture myself, the main issue that i have is that i can never get them to look 3d. Beveling the images doesn't seem to work, it just makes the image look like a button, not to mention the highlight issues. since you have done tiles in the past, any idea on how to achieve a similar effect that is on existing tile set? »jabjabjab Posted August 17, 2009 Report Posted August 17, 2009 Honestly, I started my tiles as like half light half dark with black on the sides for a straight up tile. Like I'd do the shades really basic, then slowly add all the details and such.. should probably try that and see where it gets ya. I mean cuzz I made tilesets like these. Quote
CRe Posted August 17, 2009 Report Posted August 17, 2009 jab u should make a tutorial on how to make tiles since the ones we have now aren't that great. Quote
»Lynx Posted August 21, 2009 Report Posted August 21, 2009 It's all well and good adding a 3D look to tiles that are very simple (like Jabs above), however when you've got a much more complex tile-set adding the 3D look requires everything be done completely by shading. Lord, I suggest you talk to ThunderJam and Aquarius - also, if you place your basic tiles (the texture you mentioned etc) that you'd like, I could have a go at making them suitable 45 and 22.5 degree tiles with shading although I must admit if you want some damn good tiles from my experience ThunderJam is the damn man, he's given me probably one of the best tile-sets I've seen in a *very long time. Also, I was just wondering are you looking for a complete new tile-set, or a ghost tile-set that is similar to the previous one (so you don't have to retile quite as much), I've not been to DSB in a while but I remember the tiles being quite arbitrary which means something of the same caliber to be recreated would mean a lot of care taken with the new tiles placements. Good luck, -L Quote
Trained Posted August 30, 2009 Report Posted August 30, 2009 I like DSB's current tileset.Amen. I agree with Aquarius, but I do understand change sometimes. Quote
