OrangeeoZ Posted August 12, 2009 Report Posted August 12, 2009 Question 1 Let's say you start a zone and you then put the server.cfg and the server.lvl, or whatever you called it. I then go to arena XXXXXX and change that setting and map for an event. 5 years later. I have 1000 events with different settings in each. Now, I want every single arena to have the same settings again as it was 5 years ago. How can I do this? Is it possible? Question 2 I retrieved my moderate.txt and entered their names. What do I need to type instead to make it so the person wouldn't have to type the password everytime he/she logs in?(NO AUTO) in profile please.
»Purge Posted August 12, 2009 Report Posted August 12, 2009 Question 1: Yes, if you want to make every single arena settings the same as the public settings just delete all of the secondary arenas cfgs. There's probably a quicker way to do this though, and I forgot how. Question 2: I thought all moderators don't need to type in the password to be logged in? Either that or you would need to change the validation setting in server.ini.
OrangeeoZ Posted August 12, 2009 Author Report Posted August 12, 2009 (edited) Thanks. Now someone answer the 1st question Here's a next one. Hardest. Question 3 3-4 years ago, my monitor broke as in whenever you turned it on, it'll be all black. The computer itself works. Just black screen. I have forgotten my administrator password. Now I want to retrieve some of the files from that computer. How do I do it? -----Edit: That computer is Windows 2000, IBM. http://pc-bazar.dt-software.com/img/products/IBM%20NetVista.jpg People have already suggested taking out that hard drive or whatever out.. and I can't. Click on the line http://pc-bazar.dt-software.com/img/products/IBM%20NetVista.jpg to see why. Question 4 An easier question. Like I said in question 3, I have forgotten my log-in administrator password. How do I reset or retrieve the password for free, and not have to buy some random program? »Swift Posted August 12, 2009 Report Posted August 12, 2009 To answer your question: utilize a torrent search engine and look for ERD or any kind of Windows bootup to crack the administrator's password. You'll have to take the drive out, put it into a different computer and utilize a CD-ROM to do this, but it will work so long as your primary boot is your CD drive, not your HDD...unless you have an emergency one-time boot menu. Cheers.

Bak Posted August 12, 2009 Report Posted August 12, 2009 instead of auto, you can put *password after your login password and it should work. For example if your password is apple and the moderator password is orange, set your password to apple*orange and you should be able to login and then have mod automagically. for resetting your administrator password, boot off the windows cd there should be something in the menu about it. In the worst case you can do repair and that will keep all your files but reinstall windows core files so you'll need to do updates again.
OrangeeoZ Posted August 12, 2009 Author Report Posted August 12, 2009 Maybe I should just bring it to the computer store and ask the nerd to put all the files into a CD.
rootbear75 Posted August 12, 2009 Report Posted August 12, 2009 theres an easy way to do it... i would tell you, but i don't even know.. Fucking mom keeps it a goddamned secret... ONE OF THESE days....
»jabjabjab Posted August 12, 2009 Report Posted August 12, 2009 Reminds me of an idea i had awhile ago. Can someone create a bat or something you can run in a folder where it changes one or more settings of any cfg file inside the folder (with exemptions)? Maybe that could be useful for something like Trench Wars's 5 death dc limit... why need it when we only have so much people these days?
rootbear75 Posted August 12, 2009 Report Posted August 12, 2009 (edited) I think a GUI of the cfg file would be awesome... simple java app could be done... and also a simple write as well... as it can write line for line Make the GUI program, then allow it to open .cfg files... I might do it with the simple java i know... i'll see what i can do when my vacation starts... (aug 20th) EDIT: actually, I'll post a basic design of it, and see what you guys think... (this weekend) (will probably just be a bunch of simple paint pictures of the idea I have in mind...) Edited August 12, 2009 by rootbear75
»T-Man Posted August 12, 2009 Report Posted August 12, 2009 Forgetting your password on any windows system is easy to recover/remove.. You just need to boot from a cd that edits your SAM. and it will erase your password... But you will need to actually boot it up so if your monitor doesn't work that can be hard for you unless that computer has a plug in to use another monitor.
»Blocks Posted August 12, 2009 Report Posted August 12, 2009 There's a tool called Ophcrack that will crack your Windows password in a bit of time. It is downloadable as a bootable CD. http://ophcrack.sourceforge.net/
»Lynx Posted August 12, 2009 Report Posted August 12, 2009 Question 1 Let's say you start a zone and you then put the server.cfg and the server.lvl, or whatever you called it. Question One:Open up server.cfg, somewhere near the top there is an arena setting option. There will be a comment to expand on this further to give you more information on exactly what arena option to choose (I believe it's between 1-5) - one of which will force the main arena settings to be spawned, once you've done that place every .cfg file apart from server.cfg into a separate folder for backup reasons. Question Two:You can either place the password in the Auto filed which is not secure from a log keeping point of view and won't provide you freq numbers etc, or you can place it after the password (i.e. password123*staffpassword) which is not secure as anybody can log in with it but will provide full functionality. If you want a much better solution, move over to ASSS. Another option would be to look for a bot that sends staffers a PM with the staff password as they log in, there is probably one laying around, if not it wouldn't take longer than 5 minutes to write such a plugin. Question Three:You can either download software that changes the administrator password for you, Swift mentioned how to do that. You will need to put it onto a USB drive, or a CD image and boot from it - the user interface on these applications is usually very straightforward and Win.2K security blows so even if your password is salted, it'll still be easy to crack. Question Four:http://utorrent.com - download torrent clienthttp://www.torrentz.com Run a search for Windows Admin Tools or something along the lines of that. Run a virus check against whatever you download, just to be safe. (And after reading the rest of the thread..)Ophcrack will also do the trick, and you defo will not get burned. If you don't have a screen though, well.. You're fucked. -L
Samapico Posted August 13, 2009 Report Posted August 13, 2009 Everyone is wrong, except Lynx, pretty much. Also, make sure: [Validation]CheckMod=1 CheckSMod=1 CheckSysop=1 This makes it so you can remove the mod password if you want. These validation values make it so someone entering the password, without being on the .txt list (moderate.txt, smod.txt or sysop.txt) won't get any powers. Also, use ArenaMode = 5 This means any new subarena (i.e. ?go somerandommaplol234) will not create a new .cfg set, it will use spawn.cfg. And you just have to create somerandommaplol234.cfg if you want specific settings in it.
