Himura Kenshin Posted January 10, 2004 Report Posted January 10, 2004 uninstall it then reinstall it Quote
fresca Posted February 5, 2004 Report Posted February 5, 2004 I am having the same exact problem at the moment.. However, I just deleted 250 viruses (I am unsure about the other 5 lol, Norton said it couldn't delete them?=/) System is under attack=( Getting spammed by @twsites.com email, but I posted in TWForums and they said it's a spoofed email. .. Gay MyDoom=( Anyways, everything else works fine I think, and I made no installs or anything yesterday or today. Sooo, I guess I will try reinstalling Continuum=\ Quote
Tardy Posted February 5, 2004 Report Posted February 5, 2004 Did it specifically say what kind of virus? Quote
Trained Posted February 5, 2004 Report Posted February 5, 2004 Reformat..be sure you have system discs first, then you can start all over. Just backup any important files that you wanna keep (not the virus's and kazaa isnt important) onto a disc. If you dont have a cd burner, try to get a box of 20 a: drive discs. Quote
Tardy Posted February 5, 2004 Report Posted February 5, 2004 Jay, don't tell noone to reformat and just get the disks. He could be like Mike, and just burn CD's and reformat. Think first newb <3 Quote
Trained Posted February 5, 2004 Report Posted February 5, 2004 Thats what I said, the system discs can be burnt onto a cd, thats what the program requires.. you made yourself look like a noob, plus, I did it for mike. Quote
fresca Posted February 5, 2004 Report Posted February 5, 2004 Yeah, I guess I am likely to reformat=/ Heh, one of the viruses was spawning other viruses, surprised the computer never went up in smoke:) I was scanning the system with Norton AV and at one time it said 2600 viruses. Anyways, it's awkward because half the programs I attempt to open don't work right. Like when I double click a .zip it doesn't open, and when I right click and select Extract with Winzip it doesnt work, same with WinAce and WinRar, have to do XP's built-in extractor =/ Quote
»CypherJF Posted February 5, 2004 Report Posted February 5, 2004 lol... do u not run a antivirus w/updated definitions :/ _sighs_ lol... people (not specifically you) who do not run antivirus' that arent up 2 date, irritate me. things with this are people who use outlook, that irritates me even more... and what irritates me the most.. if when people put me in address books that are commonly accessed by worms... ARG! Quote
Yupa Posted February 5, 2004 Report Posted February 5, 2004 you don't HAVE To reformat for every new virus, someone types up a verbose list of how to get rid of it WITHOUT REFORMATTING use google.com Quote
candygirl Posted February 5, 2004 Report Posted February 5, 2004 What version of nortons are you using? My version Deletes the email if it has a virus. you need to enable auto protect. Quote
Guest Guest Posted February 5, 2004 Report Posted February 5, 2004 I have this exact same problem too and its annoying as -*BAD WORD*-, now its os bad that even when i uninstall and re-install it still doesnt work. So does anyone have a solution to the question asked, or r u guys gonna go off topic and tlak about anti-virus? thx :S Quote
fresca Posted February 5, 2004 Report Posted February 5, 2004 Sigh. Yes, I do have the latest Virus Definitions, and I do enable Auto-Protect for every new virus, someone types up a verbose list of how to get rid of it WITHOUT REFORMATTING Are you saying that they have directions of how to "repair" damage done to the system? The problem I am having isn't like I am infected or anything now, I am pretty sure I got rid of all the viruses, but they did some sorta editing of programs or I don't know, but many programs don't work right=/ Continuum doesn't enter zones right, WinZip/Rar/Ace don't unzip, Kazaa Lite doesn't download files (it just sits on Searching and Connecting =/), and etc. Quote
fresca Posted February 6, 2004 Report Posted February 6, 2004 Pretty weird, I guess programs revolve around your clock. Anyways, anyone having this problem, check the following- 1. Double click your clock on the bottom right of the screen.2. Check to see if it says "2004" for the year. My year was set at 29904 somehow, by a virus, a system fatal error, I have no clue, but I changed it to 2004 and now I can enter Continuum Zones.3. If it doesn't say 2004, change it to 2004 (duh)4. Click Apply5. Go to the third tab "Internet Time"6. Select a server and click "Update Now" You should be able to enter Continuum.. Other programs work for me now, too. I guess I should have paid more attention to the errors that SOME programs would give, which were something like "Arguement date encode wrong", so I checked my clock=/ Quote
