PoLiX Posted August 1, 2009 Report Posted August 1, 2009 I have put quite a bit of time into finalizing the layout, and the structure of the site, only to continue to be dissapointed by IPB, again. CCS was suppose to be out 2 weeks after IPB 3.0.0 (or wait, as IPB loves to say, "We said should" or "Might be", "not definately"). It has now been almost 1 month, and still just getting slight status updates. If I don't hear anything by next weekend, I will just begin coding SSO myself. I can't garuntee it will be super feature rich for a while, as I'll be spending more time coding the backend than just getting the site together, but I will get it done. If it weren't for the pain in the ass converting would be... I sware I'd drop IPB in a heartbeat after the BS they have pulled this past year. --------------------- Granted, I have thought of a new section for the site to coincide with the event banner ads. Will be kind of like an events calendar where you can scroll through and see all the events in zones for the current and next month. Should give zones an oppurtunity to advertise more large events, without just hoping their banner ad pops up. Again, if I have to end up coding the backend, I may not make it too feature rich at 1st, but in time i'd like to make it pretty easy to submit an event or a banner for a quick approval by an admin.
»jabjabjab Posted August 3, 2009 Report Posted August 3, 2009 Cool. Maybe if BaK wanted to, we could get some developer ad for asking help with that project.. might speed things up considerably but then again i dunno not my project so i have no say in that.. good idea tho
»freakmonger Posted August 3, 2009 Report Posted August 3, 2009 Why not go with another CMS, plenty of them have modules/plugins that intergrate IPB's database.
PoLiX Posted August 13, 2009 Author Report Posted August 13, 2009 CCS is out. But won't have $35 until maybe next paycheck... gah... the timing of course... gotta love it. And why ccs? It is manageable from the same ACP as SSForum, and can grab ANYTHING we want from the forums for information/data.
PoLiX Posted August 16, 2009 Author Report Posted August 16, 2009 Said f it, and purchased CCS. SSForum.net is now in same dir as SubSpaceOnline.com as a domain addon. Its really a subdomain, but domain aliases so you'll never notice a difference. This allows for SSO to access files in SSForum's dir and vice versa (needed for CCS). Also makes back ups easier for me, and makes it easier to track bandwidth and point the site as needed. You may notice Quotes, BanG, and Tracker go offline and come back on, amongst other SSCentral subdomains (excluding hosted ones), as I begin moving that domain under SSO also, and begin turning sscentral.com (no www) into a directory server. Lots going on. Will keep you updated.
PoLiX Posted August 30, 2009 Author Report Posted August 30, 2009 Lots of progress... http://www.subspaceonline.com/index.php Downloads, Technical FAQ, Zone Events, 20 Questions, DCME About and Screenshots, and Comics all that is left to do. Billing Website may also be up next weekend depending on how much gets done between now and then. September 2nd is on a Wednesday, not a friday like I originally had throught months ago (looked at October for some reason, dunno, house stuff, other dates, etc.). So September 5th or 6th will be SSOs release date. This is right on tract with what I was originally planning anyways (1st weekend in September), though just not the date I promrised. But it is coming, so keep your eyes open.
prozaker Posted August 31, 2009 Report Posted August 31, 2009 (edited) nice layout. the boxes that have rounded corners, could be improved may i suggest:http://www.htmlremix.com/css/curved-corner-border-radius-cross-browser. it degrades nicely to square corners. Edited August 31, 2009 by prozaker
PoLiX Posted September 2, 2009 Author Report Posted September 2, 2009 Technical FAQ, and DCME About and Screenshots all that is left. Comics section will need to be worked on quite a bit longer to be completed properly, so will be down for a little while. News scripts for DCME and SSO will be coded shortly, though may just pull from a forum here on SSO. Will decide that later. Keepin ya updated!
PoLiX Posted September 2, 2009 Author Report Posted September 2, 2009 Currently some users having some dns issues with SSCentral.com. Honestly, baffled, but will look into it deeper tomorrow if doesn't resolve over night. Was perfectly fine yesterday.
larrythehamster Posted September 3, 2009 Report Posted September 3, 2009 Pol, try and catch me on MSN some time - I'd like a bit of a chat about SSO if possible
PoLiX Posted September 4, 2009 Author Report Posted September 4, 2009 Just message me dude. Would probably be a lot easier. With house stuff, work, and other crap going on, barely get on when you'd be on. Normally at night after 5pm PST (8pm EST).
