Guest Gregster Posted July 29, 2009 Report Posted July 29, 2009 I start typing when I press letters. But they are bound to stuff like fire,portal,...I checked the msg box in control settings but that didn't change anything
Samapico Posted July 29, 2009 Report Posted July 29, 2009 Make sure you assign a key to the 'Msg' action, like Enter. That means you won't be typing anything until you hit Enter. This also means that you won't be able to do much if a message is being typed. With the 'Require msg key' checked, this should work... Make sure you're using the right Key Defs in your Profile

Samapico Posted July 30, 2009 Report Posted July 30, 2009 And that works? With the 'Require Msg Key' unchecked?Or does it mean you can start typing with any unmapped key?
Gannon8 Posted August 4, 2009 Report Posted August 4, 2009 I think you should check it anyway. You don't want to type "Come on guys tach" accidental not pressing the message key and disabling cloak while next to a bunch of enemies in a base.
Samapico Posted August 5, 2009 Report Posted August 5, 2009 Once the message is started, mapped text keys won't do anything. My warp key is above tab (#), or ~ for you english keyboards I think, and if I have something typed, I simply can't warp, it just writes ###### or |||| if I try to lay portal... and then I die.
whalz Posted August 5, 2009 Report Posted August 5, 2009 I can type with any unmapped key, but say if i press 'x'as the first thing i type, it will put xradar on insted of typing 'x'.. but if i press 'y' it will start typing
Hakaku Posted August 26, 2009 Report Posted August 26, 2009 That's because you're pressing a key combination which forces your computer to change its keyboard language setting (usually ctrl+shift). It should be evident because no English keyboard uses French accents. Simply go to your control panel, open the Text Services and Input Languages* feature (or right click on your EN button, select properties), and then click on Advanced Key Settings. Change the key sequences or set them to 'Not Assigned'. *Regional and Language Options -> Keyboards and Languages tab -> Change Keyboards.
Guest poem ZX Posted August 26, 2009 Report Posted August 26, 2009 I should add that my problem only occurs in the game. When i go on google or something my keyboard is normal, ive fixed it by uninstalling and reinstalling but then the problem happened again about 50 minutes after i reinstalled. So i reinstalled again, now im hoping it dosnt re-re-occur what u guys think is the problem?

Hakaku Posted August 26, 2009 Report Posted August 26, 2009 Yes, it occurs in-game because Windows only changes the language per-application. So you can have your keyboard in Word in German, Continuum in Spanish, Internet Explorer in Chinese, Windows Media Player in Russian... You get what I'm saying? The problem happens because you pressed a key combination that changes the keyboard language (Windows comes like this by default). Anyhow, glad I could help. You can completely remove the keyboard switching feature by following the steps above^

Samapico Posted August 27, 2009 Report Posted August 27, 2009 Did you ever use the switch language hotkey? Also, a lot of applications don't 'refresh' their language unless you restart them
