rootbear75 Posted July 21, 2009 Report Posted July 21, 2009 (edited) Well, the time has come, parents are moving out to Cali, and I can't stay on their wireless plan anymoreSo i'm looking for a new plan (preferably not too expensive), and i'm having trouble deciding whether to stay with the Big 4 (ATT, Verizon, Sprint and....w/e) or go with one of the other brands like Boost, Cricket, Virgin., or Ampd. Only thing i hate about the Big 4, is that you get shit for your money, however, a lot of people are on them, so mobile-to-mobile is usually cheaper...however for the same price (Im using control of $50/month) Sprint:450 anytime min + 500 texts + Nights and Weekends starting @ 6pm Only good thing about this: My whole family is on sprint.... (and i think my managers at work use Sprint for their work phones) however, like i said shit compared to: Boost:Monthly unlimited (talk, text, web, walkie talkie)Cons: I don't like the 8 phones they offer. And their coverage area is a bit to be desired (however for my daily life, it probably covers it) Compared to these 2 options, which do you think is the better choice from my standpoint?Or what other plans are good for the ZIPcode 22030. (have to use that zip as point of reference if you look at any plans...) Still looking... sigh EDIT: apparently Ampd filed for bankruptcy 2 years ago... Edited July 21, 2009 by rootbear75
»Purge Posted July 21, 2009 Report Posted July 21, 2009 Pretty much what Lynx said. You should buy a phone entirely for your needs.
rootbear75 Posted July 22, 2009 Author Report Posted July 22, 2009 Well, what i have right now, my parents say i use about half of their 1000 family share plan (500 minutes)However, since the people i mainly talk to are on Sprint, wouldn't it be more economic to take a cheaper plan on sprint than some other carrier? (Mobile-to-mobile calls are free)
Confess Posted July 23, 2009 Report Posted July 23, 2009 Cricket is a good lil company. Their service is all Verizon towers. Also, a lil known secret is that every now and then they run a special in which for like $2/m more you can get the 'nation wide' coverage, which basically means any time you are in an area where they cover, you can use your phone. If you do a lot of travel outside of their coverage area, I would suggest having a Trackphone in your car just incase, however. Their plans are cheap, phones are okay.
Confess Posted July 23, 2009 Report Posted July 23, 2009 I'm actually kind of facing the same dilemma, my brother works for sprint and was getting me an employee discount. However, sprint moved all of their employees to ericson..and so now, they are raising my price from $15 to $30. My plan comes with: 500 minsunlimited textunlimited webfree roamingSome other crap. I only use like a max of 200 mins per month, so I dont like the fact that they are raising my price double...I'm thinking about getting a Track phone or something.
»Lynx Posted July 23, 2009 Report Posted July 23, 2009 If they're changing your price, you have every right to terminate any contract that you have with them. -L
Confess Posted July 24, 2009 Report Posted July 24, 2009 Right, if it was a contract. Its a month to month plan.
