So this is what I am thinking, as most of you know I am Mage+.

Many years of Devastation it has been Fun.

But how can we change?

Whats different with Our zone and Any other Basing zone?

Well here is one idea you can come by.

 

Change ships 5 - 7 and 8

We all know those are bunny ships no one uses,

For one XDOOM uses ship 5 but he is still terrible at it even after using for 10+ years, lets get serious is there any way we can even the ships out?

Yep, it would seem ship 5, 7, and 8 are Devastation's least used ships. The weasel (6) on the other hand is used quite frequently. Here's my opinion on them :

 

Terrier (5) :

Probably the only player who ever used this ship was XDOOM, and maybe laserman a few times just for the kicks of it. Its energy usage is an abomination, which makes it a far too easy target.

 

Shark (8 ) :

The second least used ship. It's best used as a basing ship, and like the jav, it's suicidal. The way I always portrayed it was a bursting ship, but it has no more bursts than a jav does, so it's not really that useful.

 

Lancaster (7) :

The third least used ship. It's best used as a basing ship to confine the trajectory of its bombs. In comparison to the levi, the bombs bounce allowing it to reach further into nme territory, but the levi overpowers it in that one-time shot + shrap is more effective.

So here's the question, do you want to keep the traditional settings and tweak them a little? Or do you want to scrap them in their entirety?

This topic made me chuckle.

 

I'll just throw my opinions about said ships out there... The Terrier is actually quite effective used by the right person but I wouldn't use it. And the talk about scrapping The Shark made me near shit my pants. Come on boys, The Shark is in the top 3 most effective basing ships. As for The Lancaster, it can go suck an egg.

 

I would suggest not scrapping the settings entirely. Tweaking would be nice as long as it's in the interest of keeping the settings balanced.

I think with the Shark, you could just +1 a burst, and it would be good. This way, it has at least something over the Javelin.

 

I also love how many people hate the lancaster as a ship, but it always made me laugh when one person manages to use it quite effectively and everyone suddenly calls it overpowered. If we were to make it more balanced, then decreasing bombs/mines and increasing bullet rate could make it better in overall combat, rather than just basing.

 

And I still think the terrier wastes way too much energy.

Shark could use another burst.. but thats it.. its bomb release loads of shrap and it has simmilar bullets to the jav, so used properly im sure its just as deadly.

 

lanc... no comment, id keep everything the same, but maybe instead increase its manueverability, give it more acceleration when you press up or down, so you can stop and start quicker, might even out its lower attack power.. but if you increase anything speed related, you gota drop some weight.. maybe just less mines

Or instead of adding a burst to the shark you could take 1 away from the jav? Wait a minute, how many bursts do the shark/jav have? 2 each? I'm pretty sure the Jav has 3 reps... I thought that's more of what the jav's advantage was.
