so im bored at work today, reading xkcd, and i come across a semi-recent comic:

http://imgs.xkcd.com/comics/fermirotica.png

Using his formula, and the values for my area:

Regional Density: Northern VA: 3072 per mi^2 (4.8 per acre)

Average frequency of sex (taken off of numerous pages) 104/year (twice a week for average couples in their 20s)

Average Duration of sex: i couldnt find a reliable number, so im using his "30 minutes"

Plug this into the google Calculator (You must include units for it to work correctly), and I came up with someone is having sex within 300 meters of this office... theoretically. (multiple bathrooms, other offices, people staying late, it could work... even a pilot doing it to one of the FAs outside on the planes...)

What's it like for your area?

Your office is 600m large? ... Airport still?

And yeah, that is pretty old. I just discovered xkcd a few days ago, actually blum.gif

Now, make it a life goal of yourself to lower this average, so it tends towards 0 meters, meaning you'd constantly have sex

Wouldn't work.

It would be: "On Average, someone within 0 meters is having sex."

.... That's exactly the point? The only person at 0.0000 meters from you is you (let's consider your center of gravity as origin).

yes, but thats ON AVERAGE.... not always...

and by that logic, that would mean you are reaching it around and f***ing yourself.

and i dont think its possible either...

cant find a calculator to do it however... have to have units in there otherwise it wont work.

If you can simplify the equation using 8 0/year * 30 minutes, then we should be fine(0.00456318211)

EDIT: ...ok, someone turn off the NUMBER 8 0 making that stupid smiley face...

Oh, and i found a graph...

Title: Distance in Miles on average that someone is having sex, As per your regional density X (in people per miles squared)

graph1.png

However, it's in miles, not meters... so do the conversion for yourself.

x = population density in Miles^2

y = distance in miles

So, for 3750 people per mile squared: your distance is .221 miles which equals 356.414978 meters

Thats if i did my caculations correct.

Source: http://web2.0calc.com/ using "plot(sqrt(2/(pi*x*0.00456318211)), x=0.. 10000)" as my argument.

'yes, but thats ON AVERAGE.... not always...'

However, if the number goes low enough it no longer stays as an average and becomes a constant.

'and by that logic, that would mean you are reaching it around and f***ing yourself.'

No, because the population density would be so high that we'd all be crushed (for it to reach a level of 0.00000), but theoretically you'd be fucking the closest person crushed into you, or they'd be fucking you.

EDIT: ...ok, someone turn off the NUMBER 8 0 making that stupid smiley face...

Done... I must say the default emoticons set had a lot of dumb settings.

80 changed for

[img=http://www.ssforum.net/public/style_emoticons/default/mega_shok.gif]

to get mega_shok.gif

Also changed :blink: to

[img=http://www.ssforum.net/public/style_emoticons/default/dirol.gif]

to get dirol.gif

Undesired smileys are annoying :blink:

Who the hell uses miles nowadays, switch to the bleeping standard metric system blum.gif

This post was totally relevant, as much relevancy as this thread, yessirree
