Dennys Posted July 14, 2009 Report Posted July 14, 2009 (edited) Hey, I downloaded wine and all of that stuff, and continuum plays, but it's really laggy like or choppy. How can I fix this? I went to Advanced Options and selected the bottom 5 choices, but it's still really laggy/Choppy. Whats I do? Edited July 14, 2009 by Dennys

Dr Brain Posted July 14, 2009 Report Posted July 14, 2009 You should set the directdrawrenderer to "opengl". I forget how it's done, but for me it made a 150% difference in frame rates. I think it involves using regedit from wine, but I forget the exact key. Google should help.
»Lynx Posted July 14, 2009 Report Posted July 14, 2009 DirectDrawRender:opengl Also, VideoMemorySize: eg. VideoMemorySize:256
Dennys Posted July 14, 2009 Author Report Posted July 14, 2009 This stuff: wget http://subspace2.net/kernel32.dll.so -O /tmp/kernel32.dll.so Make a backup of the existing file. sudo mv /usr/lib/wine/kernel32.dll.so /usr/lib/wine/kernel32.dll.so.old install my dll sudo cp /tmp/kernel32.dll.so /usr/lib/wine/kernel32.dll.so I don't know where I'm supposed to enter this information. I've only have Ubuntu 9.04 for 2 days.
»Lynx Posted July 14, 2009 Report Posted July 14, 2009 You'll find Terminal under Applications or Utilities. I forget, I think that there should be a Debian package download you can grab from http://wine.getcontinuum.com - That will save replacing the kernel32 patched file. -L
»doc flabby Posted July 14, 2009 Report Posted July 14, 2009 (edited) Guys read more carefully...continuum already works on this computer..he just wants to improve performance Hey, I downloaded wine and all of that stuff, and continuum plays, but it's really laggy like or choppy. Whats I do?you don't need to do any of that console stuff (referenced earlier) as you already have continuum installed and running, thats just to install it. Try changing it to 16bit or 24bit in the options menu (so it matches the bit-rate of your desktop) Edited July 14, 2009 by doc flabby

Dennys Posted July 14, 2009 Author Report Posted July 14, 2009 I was wondering, could someone just post simple, step by step way to download Wine and SS and have it working just fine?
