Guest Muggy Posted July 8, 2009 Report Posted July 8, 2009 I use to run ss from my MSI 7223 Mobo onboard graphics which would run ss perfectly fine as you'd expect, few months ago i got myself an ATI Radeon 4870 Graphics Card and since then ss seems very weird when it comes to fps. In Extreme Games once i enter a zone and start in the center spawn my Fps sits at a constant 30fps which even when moving around in the safe zone its still 30fps which seems laggy to me, the reason it seems laggy is once i move away from the center and the center just about goes off screen my fps shoots to 60fps and doesn't go higher or lower. When this happens its like a slow > faster reaction which makes the game look weird and feel as if my comp slowed down and suddenly speeds up which is kinda distracting and annoying during gameplay. I've tried switching ss to 16bit color also checked the no limit fps option and no change. Any help would be very greatful!
CRe Posted July 8, 2009 Report Posted July 8, 2009 On the main continuum screen do the following: Hit Ctrl + ACheck Avoid Page Flipping, Disable Clipping, and No framerate Limit
»jabjabjab Posted July 8, 2009 Report Posted July 8, 2009 Well I honestly dont know what to say, your lucky you have it go away.. My fps lag happens so randomly.. i jump from 40, 50, to 15 and 10 and it lasts about 15 seconds.. i dont know why vista hates continuum so much..
Guest Muggy Posted July 8, 2009 Report Posted July 8, 2009 On the main continuum screen do the following: Hit Ctrl + ACheck Avoid Page Flipping, Disable Clipping, and No framerate Limit That did help a bit, currently center i now have 40fps and when i go away from center i sit at a steady 150fps, still its a massive fps drops, anyway to know if its running in OpenGL or Directx9?[or 5]
Guest helper Posted July 8, 2009 Report Posted July 8, 2009 Try turning on software emulation. The problem with newer graphics cards is they are no longer optimised for DirectDraw (the api continuum uses) The good news is that pretty much every modern CPU can easily perform the graphics caluclations.
Samapico Posted July 8, 2009 Report Posted July 8, 2009 Lots of tiles on your screen will always drastically drop the framerate, probably because of what helper said.
PoLiX Posted July 9, 2009 Report Posted July 9, 2009 Software Emulation more than 2xed my FPS and fixed all my screen lag issues. Give it a try.
Guest Muggy Posted July 9, 2009 Report Posted July 9, 2009 Thank you! Software Emulation doubled my fps and works at 86 in center now ^^ thanks a ton!
