Bak Posted July 7, 2009 Report Posted July 7, 2009 the other title is quite depressing to see in most recently discussed topic ;-) Anyways, I'm going to Cali this weekend for work but I'm getting there a day early and leaving a day late with three legs on the way there and four on the way back. That means I'll have lots and lots of time for coding, so we may finally see the security / lag update you are all anxiously waiting for. Quote
Hakaku Posted July 7, 2009 Report Posted July 7, 2009 Awesome to hear Bak, and yeah, I do look forward to it. Will the lag update improve on the choppiness of other player's ship movements? Or is the update mainly security? Quote
»doc flabby Posted July 7, 2009 Report Posted July 7, 2009 You're welcome to rename the other topic to something more positive Quote
Samapico Posted July 8, 2009 Report Posted July 8, 2009 Uh? How much legs cost in California?I'd get some Quote
Bak Posted July 8, 2009 Author Report Posted July 8, 2009 legs = # of different planes I need to ride to get there It's mostly a security update, although there may be an extra sync that gets fixed which may help chopiness Quote
»jabjabjab Posted July 8, 2009 Report Posted July 8, 2009 Aslong as its as good as or better than continuum, im okay with it. Quote
»Purge Posted July 16, 2009 Report Posted July 16, 2009 An auto connecting feature upon disconnecting would be nice. Quote
Bak Posted July 17, 2009 Author Report Posted July 17, 2009 Bad news. I left my laptop at home all week. Lots of wasted time without programming. We'll see what I can crank out this weekend. Quote
Samapico Posted July 17, 2009 Report Posted July 17, 2009 lol pen & paper, dude Do like in the movies, program it all without testing or ever needing to check your syntax. Quote
Bak Posted July 17, 2009 Author Report Posted July 17, 2009 You ever watch Antitrust? Best. Programming. Movie. Evar. Quote
»jabjabjab Posted July 18, 2009 Report Posted July 18, 2009 Just out of curiosity, what would you say discretion would be at right now from releasing a full blown beta or full version, that is if you can even do so at this point? Quote
Hakaku Posted July 18, 2009 Report Posted July 18, 2009 It's still got a fair ways to go, especially considering that Bak is pretty much alone when it comes to developping things. I finally took the time to try the Discretion Module Tutorial, and it worked more or less without a hitch. Anyone writing modules for ASSS can also benefit from using Eclipse as an all around IDE (rather than the antiquating Dev-C++), since there's readily available compilation instructions for each of them available on the wiki. Bak Posted July 18, 2009 Author Report Posted July 18, 2009 Just out of curiosity, what would you say discretion would be at right now from releasing a full blown beta or full version, that is if you can even do so at this point?depends on what you want in a beta. With some tweaking with the ship location prediction settings it's playable right now online. I would really prefer to get the security part in as well as some more weapons before I'd be content calling it a beta. Maybe like 90% based on that standard. Quote
»jabjabjab Posted July 19, 2009 Report Posted July 19, 2009 Good. hmm.. As far as beta advertising goes, how will get that to the public? Quote
Bak Posted July 19, 2009 Author Report Posted July 19, 2009 I was just going to release an update like I've been doing. Maybe add a beta tag to the title bar at some point to make it official. I don't see much benefit in advertising too excessively at this stage. Quote
»jabjabjab Posted July 19, 2009 Report Posted July 19, 2009 true, but excess beta testers isnt bad to have, means more chances of finding weird bugs Quote
Bak Posted July 19, 2009 Author Report Posted July 19, 2009 where can i download this? Download link: https://sourceforge.net/projects/ss-discretion/files/ss-discretion/discretion-0.32.zip/download Website link: http://ss-discretion.sourceforge.net/ Sticky post in this forum about the project link: http://www.ssforum.net/index.php?showtopic=13145 Quote
Samapico Posted July 20, 2009 Report Posted July 20, 2009 Finding beta testers for this will be easy enough... We probably have enough just here on these forums, + the people we know on our ?chats. If there are new features done that we can put in a map, we'd need a map that can showcase these features, to make sure people stay interested But yeah... the current state is probably alpha Quote
