ThunderJam Posted June 26, 2009 Report Posted June 26, 2009 What are your guys opinions on Avira AntiVir, AVG Antivirus Free, and Avast! Home Edition? Back up your opinion with reasons and explanations please
»jabjabjab Posted June 26, 2009 Report Posted June 26, 2009 Avast definately, due to the fact that i have not had problems since.
»Lynx Posted June 27, 2009 Report Posted June 27, 2009 When I used Win, I never used an AV - never had a problem in years. -L
op2rules Posted June 27, 2009 Report Posted June 27, 2009 NOD32, its not free but it would be if you got it from op2rules.net. It's not the #1 antivirus bit will detect almost anything, uses low system resources, and updates daily+
Drake7707 Posted June 27, 2009 Report Posted June 27, 2009 I used avast before, but i switched over to Microsoft Security Essentials. Even though it's in beta, i checked some results and it's on par with other free av's like avg and avast, but it has better integration (duh) and consumes less cpu & memory. AVG has too many false positives for my taste (it treats almost each crack/keygen as a backdoor :/) It's not like I ever download (or get tricked into downloading (people on msn suddenly starting to say stuff in english is suspicous )) malware/virus/other crap, but it's better to be on the safe side
rootbear75 Posted June 27, 2009 Report Posted June 27, 2009 I'd rather have false positives than false negatives. (false negatives being not detecting an actual virus)
Samapico Posted June 27, 2009 Report Posted June 27, 2009 AVG works fine for me However, make sure to disable the 'Link scanner' utility... that shit will be delaying every web page load time.
»Purge Posted June 27, 2009 Report Posted June 27, 2009 I hated avast because of its constant annoyances, but AVG was fine while it lasted. I'm using BitDefender Total Security 2009 right now, though.
Suicide_Run Posted June 28, 2009 Report Posted June 28, 2009 Anything not free isn't really a problem unless you cant/dont want to pirate shit. I myself use AVG (Premium thingy), was using Comodo or w/e that shit was called before it started blocking Demigod from running.
