kentbrockman Posted August 19, 2003 Report Posted August 19, 2003 i came here planning to make this thread, then i see blitz already made a thread to complain. but i decided to make my thread anways, rather than sharing with blitz. todays game was very easy, as blitz team wasnt doing a -*BAD WORD*- thing to stop us. the fact is, many people arnt caring about balling now. they prefer hanging around in the middle maze and killing. then there are the newbies. geez, usually i like to help newbies and all, but the latest ones have been attaching to me repeatedly and staying on (and when your a cloaker and have the ball, thats VERY annoying). as long as im making a thread, ill state that - if a person is riding me when i have the ball and wont get off, i demand the rights to tk him. whenever someone calls for people to attach, its always the same people who attach. theres a long list, but its not long enough. I even remember MikeTheNose complaining because no one was caring, so he went back into spec. triple turrets are the worse. they are just out to kill. and all they do is make 3 people who can be ballers into 1 useless killer. not helping the team at all. just last week, there were only 9 people on my team, and we had 2 turrets (one with 3 and one with 2). couldnt stand a chance against that other team. In my oppinion, 17th parallel isnt about killing. you win by scoring. if you want to kill, go to rumble or trenchwars or something*. sure its fun to kill, but kill the guy who has the ball, or take over a base. - not a guy just flying in the middle. what i am proposing, I want to set a day to open a 17th pub arena that only the serious ballers are allowed to play in. not a permanent thing, just an afternoon thing. get a mod or staff dude to decide who to unspec so they can play (give me the powers for a day if you must, but i prefer to play). perferably disabling the flags as well (not needed though). I think something like this could be a lot of fun. If we can organize teams in advance, it would be cool to pick captains, ballers, basers, flaggers, and stuff but i dont think thats entirely necessary. probably better to just let whoever in, because then the teams will stay even. even some of the most common and best players just kill, and i dont even want them in. if you insist, ill keep my bricking to a minimum for this game. -*BAD WORD*-, ill be a weasel. comments/oppionions/shut the -*BAD WORD*- up kent? BlitzkriegStrike Posted August 19, 2003 Report Posted August 19, 2003 Better yet...make this event permanant. Quote
kentbrockman Posted August 20, 2003 Author Report Posted August 20, 2003 would be hard to do that... maybe if the place is full of newbies, then we can type ?go heterosexuals and then ?host heterosexuals and that host will only let the recognized ballers in.... Quote
Tipme Posted August 20, 2003 Report Posted August 20, 2003 i kill..but i do it in a base! does that count? Quote
kentbrockman Posted August 20, 2003 Author Report Posted August 20, 2003 of course. people staying in base are very important. if an enemy is getting close to there base with the ball, i can easily attach to ricebowl and stop them. Quote
talion Posted August 20, 2003 Report Posted August 20, 2003 Good idea, but I'm not sure you could get a GOOD game of this happening (say at least 8v8?) The only time there are 16 serious balling players online is when pub is hovering at the 40 player mark, and then the game is alredy 13v13, and newbies and vets alike kind of get sucked into the base and ball gameplay for whatever reason (ballers flying through middle with escort, getting shot around entrance to bases, getting in between a baller and where he wants to go). there needs to be a reason to ball in pub (person with most of a given positive stat (Goals/!@#$%^&*ists/steals/saves at random) gets free bounce (or something valuable) every game? well it's just an idea. the further a game lasts, the more likely it is that people who just arrived and who dont usually play it will play. some good games end up finish 5-3 or 6-4, but the best games ive ever played have finished 14-12, 10-8, whatever. it's annoying, but it's how it goes (in any zone with ball / flags). i'd be up for the idea of having an arena with only the "serious ballers," but how many of these people are there? and how often are they all online? could also be a prime opprotunity to tests some maps that have flags + goals in same bases. Tipme Posted August 20, 2003 Report Posted August 20, 2003 lately if u wanna play with a lotta people... theres a lot before.. -*BAD WORD*- on friday sbl on saturday and before rrl on sunday basically...before all the big events Quote
Dire Wolf Posted August 20, 2003 Report Posted August 20, 2003 shut the -*BAD WORD*- up kent? no... keep talking! I like seeing many letters that combine to make w0rdz -DW Quote
kentbrockman Posted August 20, 2003 Author Report Posted August 20, 2003 thats an idea. set up a Most Valuable Player thing, and the MVP gets bounce, or brick, or super, or something neat. kills are important, but most people are just killing. if it was possible to record how many goals a player got, im sure most people would ball. but that record is only kills and losses, which makes me look bad even though.. well, you know my ball playing skills. we will have to tell people in advance. just pm the ballplayers that theres an event thats going to happen, and they should be there. it would be nice to have 10 on each team, or more. we can do sign up sheets even, and email them to inform them the date and all. it can be a monthly thing. kentbrockman Posted August 20, 2003 Author Report Posted August 20, 2003 but weekly probably wont get many... what is the peek hour of 17th? saturday night, i think? or sunday around 5ish? Quote

BlitzkriegStrike Posted August 21, 2003 Report Posted August 21, 2003 If you want flags, go to that s-*BAD WORD*-hole SWR. 17th is all about balls, if you don't have balls, go play with flags, you flaggot Quote
Tipme Posted August 21, 2003 Report Posted August 21, 2003 but if he doesnt have balls...how can he be a flaggot Quote
Cid Firefist Posted August 21, 2003 Report Posted August 21, 2003 If 17th is all about balls than what are those 12 flashie thingies at the top that no one cares about? And Blitzkrieg, tell your mom that I will no longer be accepting food stamps as payment for my services anymore. Quote
talion Posted August 21, 2003 Report Posted August 21, 2003 I've made a chat so that all the serious ballers can get more organized and then once we get lots of people on this chat, we can decide on what days we can all make it and have some good games. so far only people on it are myself, blitz and ricebowl. ask any of us online for the chat. toodles Quote
BlitzkriegStrike Posted August 21, 2003 Report Posted August 21, 2003 Apple Pie: I know, I'm sorry. Your services were payable by food stamps until we ran out of the "-*BAD WORD*-tail weenie" coupons. She'd pay with a hot dog food stamp, but she might as well just pay for a guy with a comparable member to that particular item. Quote
kentbrockman Posted August 21, 2003 Author Report Posted August 21, 2003 nah, cause then the disheteros would get in it. should be an invitation only thingy. Quote
Cid Firefist Posted August 21, 2003 Report Posted August 21, 2003 Yeah, you are right. My "member" doesn't compare with the size of a hotdog. Tell her that next time she can pay me with cu-*BAD WORD*-ber certificates. Quote
DaKillaRoach Posted August 21, 2003 Report Posted August 21, 2003 ok let me fix things here. Most of you might not remember but 17th USED to be based on the Viet Nam war where each ship was based on something or other (the weasel was the missile carrier if you wanted to know. Thats why it k'oed everything). Now the whole point of the bases with the ball was to my recollection, shifting the important objective (the ball) around to the enemy bases and scoring which was supposed to represent the attacking of the enemy base or something similar? and the flags up top were to represent the gather of supplies (points which gave you prizes) and important parts of the territory. Now i'm thinking of the map we play on now, so the map before that people can enlighten me on. Now thats cleared up, onto the ball game. Yes less people play it, but thats because alot of people (newbies) dont realise the whole point of the zone and also certain ships (Warbird and Javelin) are only designed basically to fight in the open and in the middle, they are interceptors to the ball players and to take out enemy ships. Now if another person wants to add their weight with another ship (me with my lancaster for example) then thats fine, as long as they are participating towards the ball game overall (which most are).I have gotten more into the ball game, and play more in bases trying to score with my Lanc, but the resistance is hard against the veterans of the ball game, some times frustrating to myself, so prehaps that is a turn off for newbies who dont like getting thrashed continually without getting anywhere near the goal area. Prehaps a seperate ball game would be good, but you have to advertise it well in the zone, in the news and in here. Trying telling the main ball players who will spread it to their squad members and friends. But a pro ball game would be fun Quote
