Chambahs Posted June 12, 2009 Report Posted June 12, 2009 (edited) Of course I had to pirate the hell out of prototype while i wait for my copy of Infamous to get here. Initial Thought: On all the reviews of actual gameplay that i saw, i didnt think much of it, and it didnt look that interesting, I only really pirated it to get myself psyched up for infamous, since it looks exactly the same, but so much more awesome. That, and yahtzee said infamous was GREAT, which if you guys know who yahtzee is....must be a fucking awesome game to get him to say a game is great (google zero punctuation if you dont know what im talking about). Initial Play: The intro movie and cutscenes are fsucking awesome gfx, im playing on all high settings 1680x1050 x4AA and getting really good FPS. At first I was just ignoring the actual game, since when I first play a game, I care more about mobility/controls/user friendly before I start getting into it. All of which are pretty nice. Getting into the game: This game definantly has the WOW factor of gfx. Running to the top of the empire state building and seeing everything in a new york city replica at that altitude....wow. The game's graphics really took me away. The story seems pretty interesting, it draws you into wondering "hmm wtf is next". The open sandbox (like GTA...you can do whatever you want) is nice, running around from building to building, causing havoc, etc, is always fun....and fun to watch The web node stuff is pretty complicated, but I havent gotten too much into the game, so maybe I just need to play a bit more to understand it better. Buying powers/abilities based on how you play seems pretty cool, as well as playing the side missions, challenging but fun. Overall, so far this game is DEF worth buying/pirating, and like i said before, you wont be disappointed in the graphics if you can run everything at high settings, its really a beauty. One thing I feel like I need to mention, is when you jump off buildings and you are plunging 100's of feet free falling, for some reason which I cant explain, it actually feels kinda real....maybe its just me. Its really fun, and the past 3.5 hours just flew by, Id play it all night but im tired as hell. I will probably review more when I play some more. REASON FOR EDIT: NO NEED TO READ THIS CRAP, OMG STOP WASTING TIME OMFG WHO THE FUCK CARES, EVERYONE STOP FUCKING READING, SHUT THE FUCK UP AND PLAY THIS AWESOMESAUCENESS GAME Update: IT SHOULD BE FUCKING ILLEGAL TO PLAY A GAME THIS FUCKING AWESOME Edited June 13, 2009 by Chambahs
The Apache Posted June 12, 2009 Report Posted June 12, 2009 yeah it looks sweet. i saw the advertisement on TV, and it actually looked decent for once.
Keiver Posted June 13, 2009 Report Posted June 13, 2009 Been playing it nonstop since it was released Tuesday, definitely a badass game.

rootbear75 Posted June 13, 2009 Report Posted June 13, 2009 unfortunately not all of us can afford killer gaming rigs
Suicide_Run Posted June 14, 2009 Report Posted June 14, 2009 unfortunately not all of us can afford killer gaming rigsWell, you don't really need a killer gaming rig and depends on your budget but thats another story. Played it, so far about 1/4 the way into the story. It sucks you in and makes you wanna keep playing. Great game, I find its a good change from some of the sandbox gaming with generic weapons (aka guns and swords). Feels great climbing buildings and falling/gliding back down. Running around at high speeds while killing people is great also, no need to always find/hijack a dam car. I like the whole rpg style where you upgrade your skills and stuff as you progress. You guys should play it when you have the chance.
Testtube Posted June 15, 2009 Report Posted June 15, 2009 I just purchased the game I am doing a digtal download now.
Testtube Posted June 15, 2009 Report Posted June 15, 2009 I didnt get the chance to play alot but the game is really bad ass
Kat Posted June 16, 2009 Report Posted June 16, 2009 Is it truly as sandbox as everyone keeps saying? You can go anywhere and smash anything? The cinematic IGN trailers give me the chills... If it weren't from the slow torrents, I'd have played it already. ATM: 56.1% after 11 hours of downloading...

Chambahs Posted June 16, 2009 Author Report Posted June 16, 2009 Yes. Its a total sandbox, you can do anything you want.

I personally don't like torrenting, I prefer warez site where you dl from multiple parts from rapidshare/megaupload/etc. But then again thats personal preference and how much time you have sitting there and opening links. Yea, its sandbox style gameplay.

Kat Posted June 17, 2009 Report Posted June 17, 2009 Yes, some sort of ddl was my first choice but, as the game is so SO new I wasn't able to find any. I personally find it very discomforting in terms of my ISP to have an active torrent going for such a long time as I've already received warning letters about movie torrents. This, however, is the first mainstream torrent I've downloaded in probably 9-12 months so I hope it goes unnoticed. It's also a big hit in my bandwidth cap.
»Lynx Posted June 17, 2009 Report Posted June 17, 2009 Mm, it's not a matter of uploading/downloading. It's a matter of how well you can handle a record industries allegations. -Lynx
Chambahs Posted June 17, 2009 Author Report Posted June 17, 2009 I got 3 letters from my ISP before, all of them were from direct downloads, not torrents. Alot of people use "Tor" when torrenting. Good thing about my ISP is they dont care what you do, as long as they dont get complaints. The only time they send letters is when companies send them complaints of (insert ISP) downloading stuff off the internet that they own. In one of my cases, i downloaded the entire megaman x collection for my PS emulator. But lets not get off topic, back to prototype ownage awesomesauce talking.
JoWie Posted June 17, 2009 Report Posted June 17, 2009 (edited) I'm glad ISPs don't do that here (yet?) Our version of the RIAA doesn't go after consumers anyways. Torrent is going really well hit 180 KiB/s after the first 10 seconds. Currently going 400 KiB/s Also, correct me if I am wrong, but isn't just downloading without uploading music & video legal, but downloading commercial software always illegal? Not with JDownloader Also, correct me if I am wrong, but isn't just downloading without uploading music & video legal, but downloading commercial software always illegal? I thought it was like that as well
Samapico Posted June 17, 2009 Report Posted June 17, 2009 Also, correct me if I am wrong, but isn't just downloading without uploading music & video legal, but downloading commercial software always illegal? I thought it was like that as wellI don't know... the License Agreement says that you can't distribute it, so uploading is definitely illegal... but perhaps only the cracking part of downloading is illegal; since you're modifying the software, which is against most license agreements too. It's very probable that just downloading is illegal... just saying.
