We know. I fixed it, but all the db was missing from the move.

 

We moved all the sites to a new server a while ago, was pretty seemless, except SSDL.

Whats the status of ssdownloads. I created a thread ages ago but it got deleted and now we (tw) has been receiving help calls concerning this issue.

 

Merged your thread with this one. Seems I'm getting the same error as LC.

I want to mirror SSDL's files to places like FileFront and FilePlanet, but TT won't give me access/ZIP file of the files directory for some reason. I have all the other resources I need to start mirroring it to places like this, all but the files; it would certainly make it easier if I had a copy of the entire files database (not MySQL, the actual files and directory tree structure) in a ZIP, than to manually go and do each one by one the hardest and rawest way.

Would it be possible if I could either get FTP access to the SSDL files directory or a ZIP of the entire archive so that I can work on mirroring the entire database to places like FileFront and FilePlanet? Thanks!

I cant do that... However I am trying to work with POlix to get the current issue resolved.

I don't want the entire contents of SSDL, assuming that you are understanding my request as including the MySQL database, PHP files, etcetera. No, I just want the files, nothing more. I don't want to have to go through SSDL and manually download each file one by one.

This is my site. With content that i have put up maintained and paid to have online for years I don't want to give the data contents away to you or anyone else so they can throw together something that i have been working on for several years. Its my hobby work on your own.

That's pretty selfish Testtube, not just to me, but the entire community. Why do you even bother maintaining and keeping SSDL alive if you just keep it to yourself?

I am not keeping it to myself the content has been available for download for 6 years? or longer. I am simply saying I will not just zip up ssdl contents and then hand it over to you. Nor anyone else.

 

try asking anyone of any site. hey zip up your site contents and send them to me..... Dont worry about the pretty images just the content i am going to take it and put it some where else.

 

BTW what is the purpose of sending me messages when you are just going to turn around and paste them here. Dont bother sending me a PM. Just keep the converation public since that is what you want.

My purpose in asking you to help me in that specific way is not for my own gain, but for the game's and community's sake. Advertising is one way to spread the word about SubSpace/Continuum and bring in fresh blood, but there are other ways as well, such as mirroring all the files at SSDL (since that is the only place on the net with the greatest and best database of files, and it's only thanks to you Testtube that it even exists and opens the possibility to mirror) to places like FileFront and FilePlanet.

 

If you want to hold back the files from making my task easier to help the community and game get fresh blood and expand its image, go ahead -- you can't stop me. Sooner or later your pride will get the best of you. There is no other person that I would contact, for any reason, but you for this request because you're the one with all the files! No one else!

 

Either way, you won't succeed in making me fail (which would also be slap in the community's face and the game if you did make me fail). When there is a will, there is a way, and I am very much determined and confident that my will is far greater than yours to succeed in the expansion of this game and community.

 

EDIT :: And I take no credit for what I do either.

 

It isn't about me, and it isn't about you. It's about SubSpace and bringing in fresh blood and spreading the word about the game.

I hope everyone who reads this truly understand what a idiot you are. This is not about me making you out to be a idiot. But you making it clear to everyone in the community by your post how crazy you are.

 

 

Just to point out SSDL has been down two times in like four years. I still have the means to fix this issue and will be fixing it There is absolutly no reason to have a mirror site with uptime stats as good as ssdl has.

 

Secondly I don't want to stop you from doing whatever your heart/crazy brain has set out to do. I just told you You will not get the files from me as its something i have been working on for YEARS I keep SSDL for a side project and something to keep me tied to this community. Without SSDL You would lose another person who not only has the power the money and the knowledge to keep SS alive but has been before you knew about the game.

 

If you was such a SS Saint you wouldnt be flaming a major contributor of the game for 10 years and counting. Code wise Hosting/Website/Server wise Dumping 1000s of dollars into this community over the years

I see absolutely no harm in handing the raw files to L.C. - it's not like he's going to destroy the work you've created. What you've done over the years is very admirable, but after reading this I can see L.C. trying to help, and you mocking him for doing so. I try to put this in a way that doesn't offend you, because you being willing to spend money on this game is an asset to this community - but SSDL has stagnated. If L.C. can do something better, why not give him the chance? Why make things hard for him? It's no secret that this community has depleted majority recently, so why not do what you can to help him?

 

At the end of the day, what L.C. wants to do isn't going to harm SSDL in any way what-so-ever. What L.C. wants to do is mirror SSDLs files elsewhere, therefore only help this community as a whole. You can shout as much as you like that he's crazy for wanting to do such a thing, but I just don't see that logic. If L.C. can be bothered to do the long and frankly boring as fuck monotonous job of sorting bland and boring files for hours in order to help this game, I say why stop him?

 

If anything, mining your data is just causing the stagnation and slow down of production in this game.

1) If he is wanting a new design to give SSDL a updated feel from the "stagnation" you claim. I am open to additional help with that.

 

2) if he is simply wanting the files so he can start his own little site on the side I am not going to help him do that.

 

I have 4 servers i have backups uppon backups if i needed another "SERVER" to mirror the site @ i could do it myself I don't need his assistance in doing it. The fact that he took my private PMS and posted it here in this topic Also lends additional credit of him being a unprofessional kid with 0 logic. It made no sense to post that shit here. I guess i could see doing it if i said something "horrible" But i simply denied his request.

 

If i was going to entertain the idea of making a Mirror of SSDL i certainly wouldnt do it with him at this point.

 

 

Also be aware While i knew that ssdl was having a issue i did ask several people from the community that i know could and has access to SSDL to help fix. Neither of the people i contacted had alot of interest in helping So the issue had to wait until i fixed it myself.

And I do apologize for that. I am not a perfect being and do not know all the right/proper ways to do things, even though I try to learn and improve. It is not my intent to offend or hurt anyone; nothing I did was meant to be personal in any way, shape or form.

I don't want to "start my own little site." I simply want to mirror the files to places like FileFront, FilePlanet, FileShack, Multiplay.co.uk, ModDB, FilePlay, and any others I can find. Edited by L.C.
