valate Posted June 4, 2009 Report Posted June 4, 2009 It is just occuring to me that a lot of people are having the same lag problems as me. I have Optimum wireless with a 5 bar strength yet I still have a bad lag problem. I traced the zone and there is nothing wrong with that. I usually have to close everything, including itunes, AIM, and some internet browser (which is really inconvienent to me). I just want to know what is happening really. But also, I have a great connection like I said before and I usually just have a lag of 31ms which is just over the 30ms ping flucuation. I know this is because of bad lag in HS because of the server, but to be honest, I really hate this problem. Every time I get into a flag game and play, I get specced. Sometimes I just have to wait a second or two and I can get back in, but on other times I have to close continuum and restart it. I think the lag limits should be raised at least to 35ms seeings how most people who do have this same problem, don't have bad connections. It wouldn't cause that bad of lag problems, and would make my life a whole hell of a lot easier. I have Windows Vista and I have the most current Norton security system. I have no virus and my computer is a pretty new Dell Inspiron. Do I have to just uninstall and install it? Or maybe it is tiny wirefall blocking something? Please and thank you. Quote

Cheese Posted June 5, 2009 Report Posted June 5, 2009 i really only want to alt tab... why is this the only zone that wont allow it? Quote
»D1st0rt Posted June 5, 2009 Report Posted June 5, 2009 we have chat clients how is that disallowing alt tabbing? Quote
Lunatic High Posted June 5, 2009 Report Posted June 5, 2009 I know it sucks, but to get past the spec while alt+tabbing, i began playing in window mode. Quote
valate Posted June 5, 2009 Author Report Posted June 5, 2009 way to go off topic.... Creemy: Yea, I don't really know what is wrong. Maybe just Optimum sucks with the server? But I have actually found a way to fix it. I went to the connection on the computer tab and I disconnected for like 30 minutes then I re-connected. Fixed everything actually. and I can alt+tab all the time cheese..... Quote
fireblind Posted June 5, 2009 Report Posted June 5, 2009 i am also having problems i cant play for ten minutes without getting spec'd for shit like ping flux of 31 when limit is 30 OHGODWHY Quote
valate Posted June 5, 2009 Author Report Posted June 5, 2009 But still as I said before fireblind, find your connection tab on your computer open it, discconect FROM your computer and wait a while then reconnect. It works fine for me now. I think it just has something like traffic in ports and you need to let it calm down for a bit. Quote
fireblind Posted June 6, 2009 Report Posted June 6, 2009 i'm noticing everyday more and more people are having problems Quote
Gannon8 Posted June 25, 2009 Report Posted June 25, 2009 What the heck is ping fluctuation anyway? If it's the amount your ping changes, like I'm guessing it is, why does it matter? Quote
Kilo Posted June 25, 2009 Report Posted June 25, 2009 It indicates that you're spiking heavily, it's measured because averaging ping time for someone who is very spiky doesn't always send them over the ping limit, nor do their spikes always send them over the spike limit. (And a low spike limit is pretty annoying.) Quote
silverbullet Posted June 25, 2009 Report Posted June 25, 2009 Yeah, wireless always goes along with ping fluctuation. Wireless is less reliable and is prone to create the spikes that arnk is talking about because of random interferences etc. Wire up if you have this problem and you should be fine. Quote
