op2rules Posted June 1, 2009 Report Posted June 1, 2009 (edited) As hyperspace is on port 5005, I figured this belongs here. Before I was getting lag issues that seemed to make the game impossible, and i figured it was the wireless, and I was wrong. Even on ethernet, I would still get the occasional spike and some packetloss etc all that BS Now I tried forwarding port 5005 on my router and when I do ?lag I get everything PERFECT. It's all 0's except for ping which is very very very very low. So is it something else that solved my lag issue or forwarding my port actually makes HS playable again? PS: for the record I have not spiked once in the past ~12 hours of playing Edited June 1, 2009 by op2rules
Kilo Posted June 1, 2009 Report Posted June 1, 2009 No, when you connect to a server you do it on a random port and the server sends things back on that port.
Dr Brain Posted June 1, 2009 Report Posted June 1, 2009 From time to time I get weird lag spikes (happens every 6 weeks or so), and restarting my cable modem and router makes the issue go away. Could be that you were having a similar issue and that changing your forwarding configuration caused the router to restart.
