Samapico Posted May 29, 2009 Report Posted May 29, 2009 Once ASSS is globally established, it will be easier to introduce a new client
Drake7707 Posted May 29, 2009 Report Posted May 29, 2009 There are some facebook groups for subspace/continuum. Everyone seems to be on facebook nowadays and each one has probably old friends that are/were in their msn friend list from continuum that were added on facebook using the friend finder, so if one group actually stands out and friends invite their friends to join the group you can create a cascading effect to reach much more people that used to play the game. (I should probably posted this in the ideas for advertisment or whatever that thread was called thread)
»doc flabby Posted May 29, 2009 Report Posted May 29, 2009 Once ASSS is globally established, it will be easier to introduce a new clientI think this logic is round the wrong way, a new client, with exciting new features, that ONLY works with ASSS, will attract zones to using ASSS much faster than any other way. I think it will be relativly easy to introduce a new client. If it is substancially better than Continuum, and offers new design oppertunities, people will naturally be attracted to it.
Dr Brain Posted May 29, 2009 Report Posted May 29, 2009 I agree, doc flabby. It's a dumb idea to try to use asss on an established zone that doesn't want to utilize its features.
Requiem. Posted May 29, 2009 Report Posted May 29, 2009 I've been thinking of getting a continuum myspace and just putting a bunch of screenshots and making a cool profile layout with some cool images like from getcontinuum with a download available for continuum and a link to ssforum. Then I'd just add as many people as possible, but I'm not sure if it would work or not.So i'm rather iffy on making one. Was wondering if anyone here had any good screenshots they could send me.
Chambahs Posted May 29, 2009 Report Posted May 29, 2009 Thats what we did for UT zone when it was just opening up...www.myspace.com/ut_zone and thats when myspace was in its prime lol
rootbear75 Posted May 30, 2009 Report Posted May 30, 2009 Also once I finish SubSpace Online, gonna go back to talking to IGN and Gamepro and continue trying to get them to do a story on SS. Its sad you pretty much get bounced from person to person trying to find someone willing to take a few mins to talk about the game or atleast check it out. I was also thinking the other night of contacting G4, and seeing if they'd want to do a "10 yrs later" review type of thing.DO IT LOL... And the reason I count on most of you guys to advertise... I don't goto a college with tons of people, just other government apprentices, and I don't have friends who play PC games, at most a few play XBOX. So really hard for me to get anyone into this game. Those of you who goto a college, just put up flyers, information, anything. Last time I posted a thread like this, trained contacted me about cards and advertising, and he ran with that. If we can atleast do 1 mass advertising a year, all would work pretty well. It gave this game the life boost it needed back in 2000, so all it'd take is the right audience one time.Ya, like i did at Digital Overload... Similar LAN events such as this are excellent for advertising. Look at Lynx's simple idea, just setting up a lan at his college, and he had tons of people hooked. wasn't that L.C.?
PoLiX Posted May 30, 2009 Author Report Posted May 30, 2009 Probably. I keep getting LC and Lynx mixed up.
L.C. Posted May 30, 2009 Report Posted May 30, 2009 (edited) I also testify that seeing newbies and beginners play motivates me. They're clean in every way (they aren't influenced by the community's social flaws, politics, etc), and they've only started their journey in their addiction to Subspace. Hmm, I wonder if it would be possible to make a super light-weight Flash/MS Airlight version of Subspace where you have the HUD, radar, player box, banners, ability to play -- only thing you wouldn't be able to do is change your banner, upload maps (*putfile and ?setlevel and stuff), and other things. Copies could be distributed and an individual could set which zone the applet would connect to, and possibly even have the ability to preload their own zone files into the applet for faster loading. EDIT :: One reason why I'm still here, one reason why I provide zone hosting, one reason why I still host, run and operate BlueT Jackpot SVS, and host BlueT Dragonball Z, one reason why I am willing to put up money for this game, ... 1stStrike Posted May 31, 2009 Report Posted May 31, 2009 (edited) Shit Polix, you're still here. I almost want to DL SS sometimes for nostalgia sake but looking at the list of zones I've pretty much got no interest in anything that's there. Maybe if I could go back in time and play Sub-Icide with my old friends again. You know, back in 99/2000 when this game was the shit. It's always been the people that made this game and well...everyone I knew save for a few people that refuse to go away have pretty much vanished over the years Oh well. Edit: I logged into SS. Holy shit. Edited May 31, 2009 by 1stStrike
PoLiX Posted May 31, 2009 Author Report Posted May 31, 2009 Don't think all 3 of us have been on in the same zone since the 1stStrike, Bulldogger, and Sub-Icide days, lol.
1stStrike Posted May 31, 2009 Report Posted May 31, 2009 lol Sub-Icide That's right NR. Yellow_Copter owns your face.
1stStrike Posted May 31, 2009 Report Posted May 31, 2009 I...uh..shit Chambahs, you're just crazy dude.
No_Remorse Posted May 31, 2009 Report Posted May 31, 2009 That's right NR. Yellow_Copter owns your face. http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u214/rottenronald/fvg13l.gif
1stStrike Posted May 31, 2009 Report Posted May 31, 2009 Bitch, where's my chili? It's been like 10 years and I still haven't gotten that shit.
No_Remorse Posted June 2, 2009 Report Posted June 2, 2009 oh right, i think i left it in the oven. and considering i moved about 27 times since then it might be a little cold by now eh. zz
1stStrike Posted June 2, 2009 Report Posted June 2, 2009 I've moved 3 times in the past two months. In 20 days I'll be in South Carolina...then up to New York for a week...then back to Las Vegas for a week...then off to South Korea. Fuck man. And you know what? I'm gonna make my own god damn chili. So there
»nintendo64 Posted June 8, 2009 Report Posted June 8, 2009 Sub-Icide was a great zone.. I loved it. However, I felt when FiB left, and I think Sheyala took over... The zone slowly became shit.
»Lynx Posted June 8, 2009 Report Posted June 8, 2009 Most zones are shit, the players are what counts.
Trained Posted June 8, 2009 Report Posted June 8, 2009 The mass advertising thing worked a tad bit, I dont know how many people actually downloaded and played the game, and it was bothering me I couldn't tell. I actually did it in 2 phases, first with the cards, then the pay per click on MySpace. All the advertisements pointed to www.get-continuum.com (since Wondered didn't want me to do any of that on his site!) and I added a tracker to the download links. Heres some of the stats. The MySpace Run: Impressions:368,204 Clicks:168 Ok, so with 100 bucks, thats the stats. No to many clicks, but heres the download stats. This is the MySpace Campaign and the card deal:Plus, MMO top sites, etc etc. ID Clicks Added Web page 1 60 2009/01/24 Mirror 1 2 46 2009/01/24 Mirror 2 4 29 2009/01/24 Mirror 3 5 35 2009/01/24 Mirror 4 6 30 2009/01/24 Mirror 5 7 36 2009/01/24 Linux 8 0 2009/01/24 Root 236 downloads. In a matter of about a month. So, I lost the Get-Continuum.com domain cause my card number got changed, but I would like to do this again sometime this summer, its actually pretty fun for me. I dont mind spending a few hundred bucks on a campaign, I was thinking maybe actually moving it to Facebook aswell with a Advertisement. Thoughts?
