»Purge Posted May 26, 2009 Report Posted May 26, 2009 Not sure if this is known, but the staff tab next to Members doesn't get highlighted when you select it like the other tabs do.
Samapico Posted May 27, 2009 Report Posted May 27, 2009 That would be because it's just a link to an announcement, which is in the Discussion section... hmmm
rootbear75 Posted May 27, 2009 Author Report Posted May 27, 2009 (edited) FUCKING PM'S DONT WORK ANYMORE EITHER! I honestly liked the old on better.... too many fucking bells and whistles that arent necessary when you click on the pic, it ZOOMS OUT of the page, then kindof slides open like a book... WTFi liked the Pop-up version a LOT better because all i had to click was ALT-F4 and not find a friggin X somewhere in the browser window... EDIT: i did find a nice feature although the way it is presented sucks assIn V2, there is a PRINT feature that allows you to print out the topic in a nice viewable-on-paper style.. which actually separated the posts like you see it on screenIn V3, the PRINT feature sucks ass. It looks like i typed it up on the spot......I do like the email feature however useless it is.... IM's with links are so much easier, however, this is a general feature for ALL forums and not just ours.... so say if your on a forum about cooking, and you want to send a recipe to a friend, by all means, (for people older than our generation 40+), YAY Edited May 27, 2009 by rootbear75
»Lynx Posted May 27, 2009 Report Posted May 27, 2009 I can't get onto the forum half the time, because it's apparently always too busy.
Requiem. Posted May 27, 2009 Report Posted May 27, 2009 (edited) This system is much to like Gaiaonline's current rc had a child with myspace's skin. When do we get music with our profiles? ___ Srsly this system isnt that great D: EDIT: Suggestion ::Make pinned topics seperate from the rest of the topics like from the old skin. That would make it much more organized and much less annoying to read. Also, when I click edit, it scrolls me to the very bottom of the page, dunno if anyone else if having any troubles with it. CRe Posted May 27, 2009 Report Posted May 27, 2009 I can't get onto the forum half the time, because it's apparently always too busy. Same. I couldn't get on yesterday and the day before.
No_Remorse Posted May 27, 2009 Report Posted May 27, 2009 I can't get onto the forum half the time, because it's apparently always too busy. Same problem, error #2001 : server too busy
Samapico Posted May 27, 2009 Report Posted May 27, 2009 Yes yes yes... this server too busy thing is known Apparently the bots (like googlebot or yahoobot) are eating the CPU when trying to visit the 'reply' form... they keep trying over and over, jamming the server. These bastards don't even care if you IP ban them, it seems. That's what Polix said
rootbear75 Posted May 28, 2009 Author Report Posted May 28, 2009 im pretty sure if you email google, yahoo, and MSN and claim you are the owner of a site who is dying because your bots keep killing it, they might add an exception
Samapico Posted May 28, 2009 Report Posted May 28, 2009 The Internet makes no exceptions. The Internet shows no remorse.
Dav Posted May 28, 2009 Report Posted May 28, 2009 Am I the only one who seems to like this thing?I am liking it more as I get used to it
»Lynx Posted May 28, 2009 Report Posted May 28, 2009 Contacting Google etc about it won't make no difference. Their bots scrape anything and everything, you only have the option to not index their results. -L
»doc flabby Posted May 28, 2009 Report Posted May 28, 2009 (edited) Contacting Google etc about it won't make no difference. Their bots scrape anything and everything, you only have the option to not index their results. -LAcctually if you use robots.txt correctly they should obey it, also if you register for webmaster tools http://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/ at google you can use that to adjust the indexing rate. You can test it if its working using the webmaster tools as well http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?answer=35237 Another way to reduce indexing is to create a Google Site Map. IPB should come with this functionality, or an addon to do this, these can be submitted though webmaster tools as well. A site map is essentially a pre-made index of the website. A problem may be other bots pretending to be GoogleBot of course. Its quite likely MalWare attacks/scans pretend to be GoogleBot Theses will ignore robot.txt, or even use robot.txt to find hidden areas of a website. Edited May 28, 2009 by doc flabby
»Lynx Posted May 28, 2009 Report Posted May 28, 2009 Mm, that's a good point. The malware stuff completely slipped me.
Samapico Posted June 2, 2009 Report Posted June 2, 2009 Ok definitely a bug to report:-After deleting an IP from the banned IP's list, the IP remains banned... The ban is only lifted when another IP is added back to the list. This is the case when deleting ALL the banned IP's, anyway, not sure if it applies if you only delete one; but...and that's another bug: Apparently you can't delete just one IP from the list.
Samapico Posted June 2, 2009 Report Posted June 2, 2009 It seems non-registrable names can be used to post as guest (see: Mazzurbaf)Probably not a 'bug' ... but would be nice, and especially useful against these Mazzurbaf-like dumb spammers who always use the same name it seems.
Samapico Posted June 3, 2009 Report Posted June 3, 2009 If you saw about 30 posts about OMG HAX0RED ADOBE PRODUCTS MICROSOFT ORLY 4 FREE WOW!!!, that was from a guest poster using the name 'Mazzurbaf'. And if you google it, you'll find a TON of other boards plagued with these messages from the very same user. Pretty sure the main target of these bots is actually all those dead message boards where their posts won't get deleted. They boost the search results and all that crap.
Dav Posted June 3, 2009 Report Posted June 3, 2009 Heh was wondering why the banned IP list were all added yesterday
CRe Posted June 3, 2009 Report Posted June 3, 2009 Heh was wondering why the banned IP list were all added yesterday Some issues came up and it ended up with having to delete all the IPs so I readded all of them again.
Samapico Posted June 3, 2009 Report Posted June 3, 2009 Issues being me not able to access forums because of an IP ban lol
Hakaku Posted June 9, 2009 Report Posted June 9, 2009 And the list never ends... Why are half my private messages locked while the other half aren't? Why can I still send private messages while being over my quota? Why am I suddenly over my quota when I used to be merely around 50%?http://img23.imageshack.us/img23/1606/overquota.pngWhy does the RSS feed display threads that were created months ago and mark them as new messages everytime someone bumps the thread? The Print feature gives this error in both IE and FF:Error: Event.observe is not a function Source File: http://www.ssforum.net/index.php?app=forums&module=forums§ion=printtopic&client=printer&f=7&t=23303 Line: 147Why is there a reCaptcha field for when I change my e-mail, but not for changing my password?
Samapico Posted June 9, 2009 Report Posted June 9, 2009 The PM quota probably changed when we had to make a new general moderators group... it was higher than 100 (fixed) And that's the quota of messages you can receive, so that's probably why you can still send them.
