Can't find "Mark Board As read"

EDIT: O wait... there it is... so friggin small at the bottom...

of course i understand this is a RC.

you could still customize a FEW things however.... like some colors and sizes.

OOh.. like the flash Uploader ^,^

and the "Download Now!" link at the top left is broken

At least I'm not the only one who doesn't like it blum.gif Not to mention that basically all the buttons in the quickedit are broken from what I can tell in IE8 (haven't tested in any other). Oh, and pretty much all the emoticons are broken. I can't permanently minimize an entire set of forums (e.g. squads) [all browsers except FF-based ones]. + everything Polix already mentioned. Oh, and the RSS feed makes me angry, since it defaults to Hyperspace's forum only, even if I'm viewing General Discussion. I also think the reputation feature and the post rating features are stupid (why am I even allowed to rate myself?). The search feature makes me angry as it doesn't search the current forum (edit: well if you scroll all the way at the bottom there's a forum search feature... but why isn't this available in the more accessible top one?). The fast reply isn't fast at all, since you still have to load an entire WYSIWYG editor each time you click on it. There's an annoying scrolling issue when using the preview button in the full editor. But all that aside, there's a few features that I do enjoy.

Edit2: Yeah, basically I dislike every part of the theme. I feel they tried way too hard to make it look and feel like a pseudo wikipedia+youtube+facebook website.

Edit3: I can't even report posts:

[#10136] You do not have permission to report the item you are attempting to report.

Edit4: IE7 has an annoying scrolling issue when using the edit feature (the edit feature also being all messed up). Also, a fix for IE8 users is to run the forum in compatibility mode (the broken page icon at the top, to the right of the link bar). And Firefox reports 5 CSS errors.

1. The fonts need resized, yes.

2. Almost all the buttons, and things that use to be images are now CSS, so easy to change.

3. Download Now! will be broken until IP.Downloads RC1 is released.

4. Lots of IE8 problems they are addressing.

5. Upgrader deleted all the moderators, but fixed that (40mins of work...)

6. I accidently deleted the emoticons, plan to re-upload em once I download em again.

7. HS was the 1st RSS feed to be added, that was the same on 2.3.x, though I do like the new location

8. I agree on the Search. But clicking advanced still has a pretty minimal search, so eh.

9. Fast Reply... yeah... I dunno wth they we're thinking there.

10. Scrolling issue? Hmm.

I do like being able to unapprove posts, report center (no more just pms or e-mails, a whole section dedicated to reporting posts), mark a person as a spammer for anyone who can warn in the forum they are spamming in which marks their posts invisible (admins can delete user/modify/etc.), and quite a few other features. Oh, and Messenger. PMs can now have up to 6 participants and it acts like a private thread. That and lots more admin features, and minor other features/changes.

I'm sure by Final a lot of these bugs will be fixed. I think already ~40 bugs have been fixed for RC2, and hoping my report of #5 is another. But that is what Release Candidates are for.

I think a new theme would keep me happy, over all I like some of the new functionality of 3.0. The modding up and down of posts is bloody great too.

Plus quickedit works fine on Safari, so does resizing boxes?

I forgot about the new search stuff Hakaku.

At the bottom of a forum/topic is "Search this Forum"/"Search this Topic".

I noticed this in the editors in ACP but was reported... surprisingly enough noone reported the editing bugs in a topic yet. Have had a few people mention it to me with IE7, but didn't look until this morning to find it wasn't reported.

All for you Hakaku.

edit: Also, does FF tell you what the CSS errors are? I'd like to search for them and post them if not a bug reported.

I agree that the reputation and post rating features are a bad idea. I think they go against the idea of SSForum being a neutral forum for free and open discussion. Rather, these features facilitate 'e-popularity' contests and permit the possibility of people piling up on 'unpopular' ideas.

And don't feel you're skin thoughts are being ignored.

"It's too fat" "Everything oversized" etc.

Comments from many IPB users throughout this skinning experience, and now there is a thread "What do your members think?" and now our forum members are thinking the same thing. Don't think IPB can continue thinking it is just us license holders.

Hopefully they'll make some changes, or I'll have to with Final. The CSS editor in ACP is bugged, but hoping to be fixed for RC2.

Oh, and I entirely disagree with the poster who wrote "Compatibility mode brings on more problems than it is worth.". There's more issues running the forum as IE8 without it than with it.

Grr I just tried to post and it sent me to a 404 page... And cuz the fast reply is lamed, the browser won't remember what I wrote :/

But anyhow, they appear on every single page of the forum, except the last one which only appears on the front page. It's possible that Firefox isn't actually ignoring the moz-border-radius property, but it's non-standard, and definitely bad practice to use browser-specific code (something that IE was largely criticized for). Oh, and Firefox 3.0.10.

There seems to be a problem at least in the "What are you Listening to" thread. If I want to view the last page of the thread I get an error that says "Internet Explorer could not open this page (give url) and then under that it says "operation aborted" I had this happen also on "Post your pictures" thread. It's weird, I can click on some of the other page buttons and it's fine, but without fail, if I click on the botton for the last page I get the above error. I'm using Windows XP with IE 7.0. It seems the spoiler2 tag is broken... I'm with Chrome and instead of an actual spoiler tag, I see, for example:

My Dog --Click here to view--

In the same green rectangle thing, no link or anything.

It could be why you guys get an error in the post your picture and what are you listening to threads

Posted

Yeah, Spoiler2 got removed upon upgrade... though I had to re-add it...

this is very possible though... Mind editing out the code of all those posts and we'll test that theory?

You removed the /. style modding system?

No, because if we had a modding system I could have just modded your post down, and wrote in my post 'Modding is better, because it lets me mod down spammers and crappy ideas' - It's still open discussion, just more statistical. As for e-popularity, I completely disagree. It's not like people are going to be saying 'zomg, mod me up!' because that will just epicly fail, as it always does on every other mod based system. Then onto the unpopular ideas bit - I think people generally judge by themselves on what ideas are popular and unpopular, just because it already says +50 doesn't mean anybody will automatically click the little + button again. :/
