So today I go in to renew my DL, only to find I have to take a stupid knowledge test.

I ace the road sign test, but missed 6/25 on the driving test.

Here are the types of questions i failed on:

When you have been drinking, how much more likely are you to get in an accident?

A) 2x

B) 5x

C) 7x

D) 12x

Im thinking, WHO CARES... IT'S A FUCKING STATISTIC, NOTHING TO DO AT ALL WITH FUCKING DRIVING

i said 12x being cautious, but NOOOO its 7x... don't you think they should be letting me go since i overstated the statistic?!

When a fire truck with it's siren on passes you by, whats the closest you can follow it?

A) 100ft

B) 200ft

C) 350ft

D) 500ft

i said 100, because i honestly have no judgement how close something is in an actual numeric value... but its 500.

I'm thinking, I DONT CARE, BECAUSE I DONT FOLLOW IT THAT CLOSE ANYWAYS

When following someone: how close can you be before you have to turn your low beams on?

A) 100ft

B) 150ft

C) 200ft

D) 300ft

Actually, from what i remember in my Driver's Ed in high school, its 500ft approaching, and 350ft following.

they FUCKING CHANGED IT ON ME..

fucking hate the DMV now i gotta pay an extra $2 (each addt'l test) to the $32 i already have to pay to renew it

Wow... gotta love stupid theoric questions like this. Especially the drinking one... it's really stupid.

And 500 ft behind a fire truck? ... Seems pretty far to me... But actually you can't "follow" it, it's speeding and going through red lights.

It's a provincial thing here, not federal... So I don't know about the rest of Canada blum.gif

It's a state thing here as well, though there are federal rules governing how states issue them.

Ontario's licensing bureau is just a money grab. They make you jump through hoops just to get your license. And when you do, you can expect to be paying up the ass for your insurance... I moved to NB and my insurance was cut in half.

DMV is a prime example of how much the government can screw up something simple. It'll be great when everything is government run, eh?

I've never had a problem with the DMV... and I bet you've never had trouble with private sector businesses? The problem root had wasn't with the dmv itself, but rather the test. Are you suggesting that driving tests be determined by private sector DMVs that you're paying for to take the test? Sounds like a recipe for disaster.

If I have trouble with a business, I don't go back and instead go to their competition. Tends to make businesses pretty friendly.

I've never really had a problem with the DMV in NY.

Also I've never had to take a test, paper or vision to renew my license.

Root got owned by the DMV.

first, im 19, and since im a teen, i suspect they require it for all teenagers.

second, the DMV was simple... i was up to the information window in less than 5 minutes... up to the window to get it renewed in 5 minutes after that, and to the testing station, 5 minutes after that.. i was owned by stupid theoretical questions... i got all of the operational questions correct. (like: What does this line mean, etc..)

i can't switch to DSL, first off I payed $100 cable modem installation shit and if I switch then my tv cable becomes unbundled and I pay a shitton more.

You're not helping your case. I was complaining about monopolies, after all. If you can't switch, then of course you're going to get rotten service. They have no incentive to treat you well or give you a good price, since you're going to pay either way. Telecom monopolies are just as bad as the DMV. High barriers to entry = few companies & bad service.

YAY i passed.. read the book in the parking lot of the DMV before i went in... ezpz

Stupid Plan #2:

Apparently having entered in ALL of the information on the renew card they mailed me (they took it when i went in last time) they make me fille out a form from scratch... im like... all i need to do is take the fucking test!!!

Pwnage Scene:

While getting my picture taken, I thought the picuture was snapped (w.o a flash, as it was fucking daylight) so i start to move, when wouldn't you guess it, the flash goes off... thank god my pic wasn't too bad....
