CreatiX Posted April 27, 2009 Report Posted April 27, 2009 (edited) Hey ! again some devblogging: tc and me are still working on it ^^ .I finished all the needed animations and implemented them. tc currently redoes the logic as we toggle full anims now, instead of 100eds of *objons. Looks pretty - however this causes the Zone files to be around 20 MB. ...do you think itd be acceptable for the users to download the zone files from an http mirror? About the attached screenshot: You can see the green base (spawnpoint) in the center of the circle.I redid the map so now there are only 3 Control Points. You can warp to the points you captured by moving onto 1 of the 3 portals around the spawn point - on this picture A and B are on (captured)but C isnt (you cant use it). i also attached 2 pictures out of the capture animation - hope to get some feedback on it!xxx-cre P.s. Still havent found a good tileset, any suggestions? Edited April 29, 2009 by CreatiX Quote
Samapico Posted May 15, 2009 Report Posted May 15, 2009 Cool, didn't know this was still going... Downloading 20MB of files should only be done from an http download... Continuum is way too slow on downloading stuff Make sure the fancy stuff is set as optional LVZ's though. You might want to try to optimize some animations too... For example, large animations can usually be broken down in a few smaller ones and a few static images. Doing this sometimes allows you to reuse the same image at different places too. Every black area in your graphic files is a waste PNG isn't necessarily the best format to use either... In some cases, lvz'ed BMP's are smaller than PNG's. I'd also try jpg's, even if it's not my favorite format, it can get real small, and could be fine for some quick animations where you can't really notice the artifacts. If you have sounds too, it's useless to have full quality WAV's, you can set the same quality as continuum's default sounds and cut down their size at like 20%. Edit: And since you can assign multiple mapobjects to a single objectID, splitting animations and such shouldn't make the programming any more complex Quote
CreatiX Posted May 16, 2009 Author Report Posted May 16, 2009 hey sam! im really glad someone finally posted a reply!! i havent used any sounds so far - however im unsure i can really reduce the filesize... do you have some spare time btw? i could really use some support implementing the graphics (i think thats one important reason why everything is taking so long... thanks for your tips btw!xxx-cre Quote
»Purge Posted May 16, 2009 Report Posted May 16, 2009 Looks graphically intense. With that, you should make the gameplay even more intense. Quote

true_vision Posted May 24, 2009 Report Posted May 24, 2009 (edited) Complex was a good zone before , just never had the population. I must agree with sam that continuum doesnt really support 20 meg zone or it's will take a while to download it .... So yeah VIA Http or Ftp it's could be done i'm pretty sure and faster. Your capture zone animation is intense but what about the rest ? It,s a secret I supose ! N&way creatix , good luck on your project . This look new and will refresh SS. I left SS since 1 years but I could help you maybe if you need any assistance at : 0ptix@live.ca ( MSN , E-mail ). Edited May 24, 2009 by true_vision Quote

The rest of the gfx have the same "style". I might be posting more screens as soon as more gfx are implemented. So yes I really need help with implementing the gfx (lvz makin/positioning gfx) - i just dont have enough time... ill send you a mail about it.. -cre Quote
PorterW Posted August 7, 2009 Report Posted August 7, 2009 (edited) BRING IT BACK SOON!!!!! Oh, Great graphics BTW. Amazing graphics. But in all seriousness.....it would probably take a while to download these graphics..... I'll play the devil's advocate here, I actually am all about the gameplay of the old complex. So I hope the graphics don't just get gimmicky. I'm all for this project, I am still looking forward to it. Edited August 7, 2009 by PorterW Quote
»Lynx Posted December 16, 2009 Report Posted December 16, 2009 Hey, they're really nice graphics. You could always make it optional for users to use these graphics (set up some simpler placeholders with the level download - I would definitely download these graphics, and I am to say the least rarely ever impressed with Subspace graphics/sounds. Sass Posted August 27, 2010 Report Posted August 27, 2010 Needs new ship graphics to fit the zone. Quote
L.C. Posted November 20, 2010 Report Posted November 20, 2010 Graphicz are mehObvious troll is obvious. Quote
»Lynx Posted December 18, 2010 Report Posted December 18, 2010 Perhaps you could make these graphics optional, I am sure when they're this quality a lot of people will use them. The 20MB download is no issue when downloading from a mirror, it's just an issue when downloading from a client. Quote
Cheese Posted February 3, 2011 Report Posted February 3, 2011 i am very curious, did you make these gfx yourself?if so, how? what program did you use?if not, who made it? just make sure you keep each lvz under 4mb Quote
