Intel 4500 HD Integrated Graphics on Lenovo X301 - v.low FPS

Hey hey,

 

Using a Lenovo X301 with Integrated Intel 4500HD graphics.

 

Latest drivers, latest directx, Profile resolution set, refreshs et , etc etc, FPS is ok on an area with no action and no tiles, then instantly drops to very jerky when theres other ships/tiles etc.

 

Software Emulation fixes the problem, but I was wondering more about the cause and if it can be avoided/fixed.

 

I know the 4500HD is crap, but I'd have atleast thought it could pull 1440x900 (res of display) at 60fps quite comfortably.

 

Any ideas ?

Are you running on vista?

 

I know quite a few people have to use software emulation to avoid fps issues on vista.

In the advanced options dialog in continuum there is a option to use "software emulation".

 

This means all the graphics processing is done on the CPU instead of the graphics card, this can be alot faster in continuums on moderm computers because it uses a very old vesion of directX it isnt supported terribly well on the newest cards, it really depends on the gfx card.

Yeah I am running Vista Business 32bit

 

Shame really as it its not *as* smooth in Software Emulation mode, but yes as stated in previous post, Software Emulation does cure the problem to a certain extent.

 

Things flicker a bit more in software emulation mode and its not perfect, then again, its better than 10-18fps.

 

Hope this can be something that can be looked into, I don't understand the complexity of the problem to know whether its an easy fix or not.

 

But for now, I will struggle on with software emulation.

Yeah I am running Vista Business 32bit

hah, i had that for a while... trust me, dump it... business sucks ass...

 

I have a Lenovo T61. except for finding working wireless drivers that actually worked well with my card, XP is SOOOOO much better on that.

 

if you find problems let me know.... its not your card, its the fact you are using Vista Business which isnt made for gaming....

Well what I use on Vista for low fps is:

 

Avoid Page Flipping

Disable Clipping

No Framerate Limit
