New pub map

A new pub map is up in 17th Parallel. Thanks to kentbrockman for the modifications.

 

Two duel boxes are also available in this map at the bottom. Unless the bot is not up, they should work.

okok.. before everyone says "shit, another pub?" - check it out.

 

it is not a new pub at all. its the old pub, just 'cut down'.. squished the walls in a bit. This way, a 2vs2 game is actually fun. and finding someone in the center is easy :-)

 

I havnt played with map editors before, but I think i did alright. Anything thats wrong is sama's fault.

 

though id like to thank the current sysops for there support in getting this up. hope it gets some success.

Right, because everyone and their dog hasn't already tried just slightly modified versions of old pub maps. Smaller versions of pub have been tried. Pub with dueling boxes was tried (Cubs and I even had a pub with Rumble on it and a bot to run it). Seriously, how many years will it take before people stop trying? I was a fool to even try when I was still around, and Mike handed it over to me. I'll admit, I had ideas that I thought would work, but let's be serious. It has been dead for years. Not just a few years, several. I'm astonished that anyone is still trying to salvage 17th. How have they not used that slot on SSC for something else by now? Back when the zone first went to the shits, it was almost conceivable that the zone could revive, because it was freshly dead. But now, it has long been buried and dug up again over and over. You are playing with the dismantled corpse of what was only a mediocre, slightly successful zone to begin with. Wtf? Give up. Hang Mike. Develop for something that has at least a chance at success. Yeah.

that seems pretty harsh. I dont think the idea now is to totally revive the zone anyway, just to make it possible for decent 3v3 and 4v4, which i think the new map does.

i thought i made that point clear.

 

i said this map will succeed because my goal isnt to revive the zone. though that would be a bonus . my goal is to make a 2vs2 or 3vs3 soccer game playable, and more then just a race for the ball. and i think we proved that.

 

if the zones gonna be online for us to fly around and try to get games going, it may as well be this compressed one. And emb - i have never seen a 'smaller' pub then the one that was up before this... i seen ?go map1, but its actually bigger.

But you keep coming back to check on here just as people keep coming into 17th to check in there. We already have had successful games in there with Kents map. Plus it's something to do. No point in hating on it, it's not like you or anyone else is losing out on helping or not helping.

Yeah nice map, It's helpful for the small current games held with 6 people. Also is there a way to keep the bot in there? Like 1 perm in main pub, and 1 in ?go rumble?

I'm not here to check on the zone. I'm here to keep in touch with friends, as I still have a lot of friends I knew from this game. If I was really interested in the game, I'd download the game and log in to see, let alone if I had any interest in the zone itself. Besides, I've only posted maybe three times in the past 3 years, and when I replied to this topic, it was mainly because I was bored and had just gotten home from work, only to find my other game was doing scheduled maintenance. And I'm posting now because I figured some trolls would reply to my 'harsh' post. I remember seeing these kinds of posts even when I was trying to get a decent population going for the zone. The majority of the people who were once dedicated to the zone gave up a long time ago, which brings me to the main reason I posted here, and that was that I was surprised to see someone like Samapico still here trying. Seriously, the guy has been here for like 9-10 years, or more. But then, with DCME, he sort of has a bit of an obligation to be somewhat connected to the game I suppose. Anyway, I'll post again in a few months maybe. lolz...
