TerminatioN Posted April 7, 2009 Report Posted April 7, 2009 Hi, I'm TerminatioN, current sysop at SSCC RedStar. We are experiencing a problem where players will be kicked out of the zone and are unable to re-enter. Here is what happens: The player will be in the zone for any random amount of time and for whatever reason (my only guess is severe lag), I will get a red sysop message saying "WARNING: Packet flood from" from their IP. Shortly after they will be kicked from the zone.Upon attempting to re-enter they say the client will sit at the black screen as if trying to connect to the zone, but it will stay there for a long period of time, after which they get the error message "Check to make sure that you are connected to the internet and that the server is online." or something to that extent. I get no error message or anything on my side when they try and enter. The only way they are able to get back into the zone is if they can change their IP (which is problematic for some players). I'm not really too knowledgeable on this subject, but my only thought was that it was some kind of security server side blocking their IP that I had no control over.Totally possible I'm completely wrong though. Anyways, does anyone have any idea what could be causing this and/or a possible fix? Thanks,-TerminatioN http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b333/W1ll007/terminationsig.jpgredstar.ning.com

★ candygirl Posted April 8, 2009 Report Posted April 8, 2009 I would get this if the player was lagging. The player was d/l something and i would get the warning. In your settings....what do you have (misc continuumOnly set at?) Plyers like to longin under 2 names to make the zone look full and if there isp/pc is not fast you will get this warning. I tested this last yr and got this warning.subchat will do this as well. JoWie Posted April 8, 2009 Report Posted April 8, 2009 Are the players able to reenter if subgame is restarted?
🜲 PoLiX Posted April 8, 2009 Report Posted April 8, 2009 No, they're not. Well, recycle atleast. I went over a lot of ideas the other night with Sketter, and told him to PM freakmonger here on SSF. Anything that could be done from the zone's side has been. So must be something with Subgame itself, or something in the firewall on that port. Though the fact Subgame is thinking it is being packet flooded when it is not is also interesting. I'd try a fresh subgame install and see where it goes. ★ freakmonger Posted April 9, 2009 Report Posted April 9, 2009 I have restarted the subgame. That shoud fix the problem *for now* but it will happen again. I might replace that subgame when it happens again.
TerminatioN Posted April 9, 2009 Author Report Posted April 9, 2009 Thanks freakmonger. http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b333/W1ll007/terminationsig.jpgredstar.ning.com
