u ygg Posted March 29, 2009 Report Posted March 29, 2009 So I just download the AIO Server kit from: http://www.ssforum.net/index.php?showtopic=21940 by L.C. which I figured out how to use to connect simply for my own computer, but I wanted to test the zone with my brother. his computer is connected by ethernet to my router, but we can't figure out what to do so he can ping the server and connect to itWe tried an online guide for how to make a lan server but it was outdated and didn't work additional information: the router is a 2wire router if that matters or not.. Thanks in advance for the help
»doc flabby Posted March 29, 2009 Report Posted March 29, 2009 Can you ping each others computers? (using ping) If you can....it might the firewall on the computer running the server is blocking the server ports
u ygg Posted March 29, 2009 Author Report Posted March 29, 2009 well I'm not sure if we can ping each other, but the problem is that the server only shows up for the host computer, even if i put the router's ip for the host server or whatever it is in server.ini, i can connect only on my computer which is hosting the server any help is appreciated, if you have specific questions that can help solve my problem just postthanks
CRe Posted March 29, 2009 Report Posted March 29, 2009 Did you forward the ports? The Zone Port & The Zone Port +1 so if the port was 4000 forward 4000 and 4001.
u ygg Posted March 29, 2009 Author Report Posted March 29, 2009 (edited) Did you forward the ports? The Zone Port & The Zone Port +1 so if the port was 4000 forward 4000 and 4001. well I just tried that but with a 2wire it makes you choose which computer to forward the ports on and so i tried mine first, and his continuum client still showed the server in red, then i forwarded it for his computer, with the same results I think the problem has to do with my server.ini file, maybe I'm not choosing the right ip or perhaps when I add the zone on his computer I'm doing it incorrectly Here's a recap of what I've done:I started setting the ip to local host and 127.0.0.1 or w/e and it connects to the billing server and then I can connectthen I tried to connect from his which doesn't work obviouslyso then I set the [billing]IP to my router's IP like suggested in a guide I read and also the [directory]IP to my routers ip, which is default 192.168.1.100 everytime if I change it to my router's ip or local ip or even my own computer's private ip, I can connect on the host computer but my brother can never find the server. If we use 'add custom' on the client it always remains red and never responds any help is appreciated, thanks edit: any links to a complete step by step guide would be appreciated, as the one I used was ages old Edited March 29, 2009 by u ygg

u ygg Posted March 29, 2009 Author Report Posted March 29, 2009 (edited) Well heres a link - http://minegoboom.com/server/howto-zone/index.html I've already looked on there, and searched it down, with no results, I even used all the guides on there, and it seems to be set up exactly how advised to host a LAN server, but still I cannot connect from my other computer thanks anyways for your help Edited March 29, 2009 by u ygg
rootbear75 Posted March 30, 2009 Report Posted March 30, 2009 how about setting the IP to your private network IP. Example: Your's could be 192.168.1.23Set the server IP to that...and on his, add custom zone.
