Corey Posted March 28, 2009 Report Posted March 28, 2009 Was wondering, is anyone working on it? Would be cool to see this thing launch.
Dav Posted March 28, 2009 Report Posted March 28, 2009 i think a mobile Java app would be more favourable, should work on a wider range of platforms. Would be especially good if the Iphone was Java compatible as this would make it a perfect platform for mobile apps
Dr Brain Posted March 28, 2009 Report Posted March 28, 2009 Sure, we've been having lots of trouble getting a new client for the PC, but an iPhone should be no trouble at all. I'll see if I can have it done by tomorrow.

I'll see if I can have it done by tomorrow.Don't bother, I already made one. Took me a couple hours, good thing Priitk had Continuum's source available.
Dav Posted March 28, 2009 Report Posted March 28, 2009 lmao. i thought we were discussing a chat app rather then a full on game here...
Corey Posted March 28, 2009 Author Report Posted March 28, 2009 Either or, just would be cool to see one, but what about an app, that you can get via the app store? That would be neat, and you would be able to make it free, and see if people download it a lot, then realese a new version that's say, $0.99.
Samapico Posted March 28, 2009 Report Posted March 28, 2009 The problem is MAKING it... Not sure if you are aware of that, but it's not like we have Continuum's source code, and just need to re-compile it on other platforms... We need to make a whole new client for that (see Discretion, Snrrrubspace, etc.)Same goes for putting it on Steam... We can't do any of that until we have our own client. But yes, when/if we have a working client that we can do whatever we want with it, it would be nice to port it to these kinds of platforms
jacob hunter! Posted March 29, 2009 Report Posted March 29, 2009 PUSH AND MAKE THE CLIENT. HOW MUHC FUNDING WILL YOU NEED????????????????????? MONEY IS GOOD RIGHT?
»Lynx Posted March 29, 2009 Report Posted March 29, 2009 Corey, I've made it... Apple is just taking forever to accept it... Write a story on Slashdot showing how much apples app store sucks, and accuse them of holding it back so they can release it in iPhone 3.0. -L (I'm being serious)
Corey Posted March 29, 2009 Author Report Posted March 29, 2009 You're serious Lynx? If so we should all go complain, so that it gets released.
»Lynx Posted March 29, 2009 Report Posted March 29, 2009 You're serious Lynx? If so we should all go complain, so that it gets released. Not. Even. Funny.
Samapico Posted March 30, 2009 Report Posted March 30, 2009 You're serious Lynx? If so we should all go complain, so that it gets released. Not. Even. Funny.I laughed A lot
Corey Posted March 30, 2009 Author Report Posted March 30, 2009 (edited) Yo, Lynx, i didn't even mean for it to sound like that, i actually want to see this thing get released, and if you have actually sent it to apple, and if they are actually being lazy asses, we should complain until they release it. No sarcasm, or is this whole thing making fun of me? :S Edited March 30, 2009 by Corey
»Purge Posted March 30, 2009 Report Posted March 30, 2009 I'll pretend that Corey is being sarcastic.
Hakaku Posted March 30, 2009 Report Posted March 30, 2009 To sum up everyone's very helpful and unambiguous posts: there's no chance that Continuum itself will ever be available on either the iPod or iPhone. As it is fundamentally designed for use only on Windows due to its heavy reliance on DirectX, getting it to run on any other platform is a near-impossible task. However, this shouldn't discredit the possibility for a chat client to be made available, as there are already several made available for both Windows and Linux, one for Palm OS, and another one for the PSP (the latter two having been made by Smong).
»Lynx Posted March 30, 2009 Report Posted March 30, 2009 I think it may still need VIP, even with Snrrrubs oracle expander, I'm not too sure how that will work with the iPhone. -L
Hakaku Posted March 30, 2009 Report Posted March 30, 2009 I think it may still need VIP, even with Snrrrubs oracle expander, I'm not too sure how that will work with the iPhone. -LWell I don't know anything about the iPhone, its SDK, or how its applications work, but it's definitely not a very far-fetched idea. As for the Palm OS and PSP chat clients, they were designed for ASSS, not subgame. So it's just a question of whether or not the server accepts the client. If you added the Oracle feature, then that's a plus, but it's not a necessary component to designing a chat client.
»Lynx Posted March 30, 2009 Report Posted March 30, 2009 I think the biggest concerns would be dropped connections due to the iPhone admittedly having quite bad reception, and due to phone calls etc. An ASSS only chat is very do-able, but a chat client that doesn't connect to ASSS would be very hard due to security checks and even if it were possible, it would get slated on the ratings due to nobodies downloading it wondering what it was, and not being able to connect because of VIP etc, and I'm pretty sure the Oracle Expander won't work. -L
