Zones Sharing Arenas

Well since ASSS released, the multi-zone on 1 server thing has always been a big advancement in zones kind of sharing the effort. Between that and a lot of the SVS zones merging into Chaos, we've seen a lot of combined efforts.

 

Now with a lot more information on Subgame peering, and the packet information out on how to connect an ASSS and Subgame Zone, and ASSS to ASSS zone, you can share arenas between multiple servers. Now the only problem could be settings, as most zones settings are far from each other, but some have modified arena settings for events, etc. that are pretty close. Imagine having EG and TW sharing like a zombies arena, or dodgeball. Something that isn't really zone specific. Not only would it be good for cross population, but it'd be good for the events themselves, and uniting zones. Now I'm not saying this would happen, but just an example.

 

I think this could definately help smaller zones overtime.

I've always thought that maps going into another zone's folder would be a big turn-off.

Having it all run automatically, awesome. Think about the staff/moderation. Things can get messy.

I agree with Chambahs there. I think the process of sharing areas will need to be well thought out and redesigned to fulfill your purpose.

 

However, to even then work on that area would need a very strong union of zones. As what is seen with what happened to SSC forums, we are polite at best, but hardly united.

 

It's not a bad idea, but our community isn't there yet.

This may seem like a stupid thing to say, but even a little bit of client modification, and this would be the best thing yet.

I think this is a great idea. I've been discussing some variant of this with some folks lately - we'll see what comes of it.

I've seen this in action (ie testing) in TW and EG and its awesome!
