Maybe something like this:

 

 

 

Where the yellow squares are your actual icons; just fill with black areas to get the proper placement, as long as every icon has the same size in the end. For big displacements this could mean a huge image though.

 

Another approach would be to handle it all with LVZ's. Kind of like in Hyperspace where they were showing the number of ammo packs; except you'd have to handle ALL icons. With subgame I wouldn't even bother trying, but it's pretty doable on ASSS. Main problem for that on subgame would be the initial greens given when you spawn, I don't think you could know which gun level the player has, for example, until he shoots. Unless these things are fixed and cannot be upgraded with greens in your zone.

The problem with making the image like that is, that it wouldn't move the icons up, it would just make a space between them, and push further down. Actually it would go off the bottom of the screen. So I guess I would have to find someone to code an icon module, which is basically pointless and I don't think anyone would. :S

 

The problem I had, was I made bigger icons, and they ran off the screen.
