NBVegita Posted February 4, 2009 Report Posted February 4, 2009 You know I have been sitting here and wondering to myself why there hasn't been any REAL discussion on this board in the past week. I mean so far we've had the pork-barrel items in the stimulus plan: http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/02/02/gop...ries/index.html (DISCLAIMER: I don't agree with every item being labeled pork in there) We've had Obama break his own lobbyist rule: http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/01/28/cam...view#cnnSTCTexthttp://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/01/23/cam...html#cnnSTCText We've had this whole Daschle scandal, don't think I really need to source that. I find it amusing that had McCain been in office right now, there would be three booming topics attributed to the aforementioned, yet with Obama in office, not so much as a peep on the boards about it. I mean we've only had a single topic on everything going on with Blagojevich, that only has 6 posts, only two of them even pertinent to Blagojevich. Now it could just be a natural lull in posting...but I have a feeling there is a trend here. Quote
FMBI Posted February 5, 2009 Report Posted February 5, 2009 Oh yes, the great "Lazy Leftist" conspiracy is afoot. The problem with these stories is that there's nothing to them. Pork? There were thousands of articles written about that during the election, it's been talked to death. Lobbyists / tax evasion? Sure, it's bad, and all - but, seeing as there are more important things supposedly going on (ie, pulling out of Iraq, averting a massive recession, changing our diplomatic policy towards Russia, North Korea, Africa, and the Arab world, etc), I've found it hard to even keep my eyes open when I hear yet another overpaid columnist whine about it on TV. Perhaps you're right, and we would be more active if McCain had been elected - but seeing as how overall board traffic and interest is down so much, that really is just hard to swallow. Besides, what would we talk about? Maybe how he was sending our new VP, Sarah Palin, off to the nation of Africa? Or how he was going to appoint Joe Lieberman as Secretary of State? See, even that's boring. Quote
Bak Posted February 5, 2009 Report Posted February 5, 2009 i find it funny how people can not pay taxes and get away with it... isn't it cost effective to pay people to stop thisthis is why I liked Huckabee's national sales tax thing. First off, no one has to file personal income taxes, and, save through cooperation with a business, no one gets around paying. Quote
SeVeR Posted February 6, 2009 Report Posted February 6, 2009 To be honest with you, i haven't been posting on this forum because the forum hasn't been working for me. I keep getting "can't find server" messages... i have a help topic about it in the feedback and support. Right now is one of only two times in the last week that i've been able to make a post here. Aceflyer Posted February 9, 2009 Report Posted February 9, 2009 I think a variety of factors are at work here. First, there is a liberal slant to a lot of the more prolific posters here, so these people probably do want to give Obama a honeymoon period of sorts. Also, FMBI has a point in that the political 'stories' lately are just plain boring, and have been done to death over and over again already. Finally, it's also true that overall interest in this board has been on the decline. So I'd say a combination of all of the above is responsible for the lull in posting here... Quote
